... I would not buy a MMR OPG set. They are made of 9310. TSS or boundary would be my choice. They are made of 4140 which is stronger than 9310.
I think rifle bolts are sometimes made from 9310 and stronger steels, rather than 4140. But to really find out, someone would have to buy one of each and put them to the test.

I think we can all agree 9310 or 4140 is stronger than the stock opg's. Even wet sand would be a better choice.

i thought i saw a pic of the 2 pumps side by side, here; on another thread....the 350's is different...i think...it sure looked like it and the poster of the pics said the 350's pump gear is billet....i'm probably looking at it wrong...if so, sorry... i just REALLY don't want this to turn into an IMS/RMS "problem" like is/was happening to the M96/M97

I talked to Tom of ford performance for an hour today about the GT350. He spoke to everyone there and checked to see if they heard of any 5.2 engine failures. They all said no. We all know this isn't true. But he also said he's heard of no oil pressure loss, failed opg's, oil hoses bursting, etc. to them the engine is perfect. We all know members on this and other forums have had oil pressure loss. As to why the oil pressure loss? Nobody is 100% sure because ford is tight lipped.
After hearing all of you and myself speculating I'm at a loss. Here's my concern.
1) If for example my engine looses oil pressure with stock gears I'd tear it down myself and find the cause. Build new.

2) if I replace the opg's before any issues and the engine still looses oil pressure I then know it's something else like a spun bearing. Still have to replace or build new.

3) if I replace the opg's and the engine blows I have two options. Build a new engine to my likings. Or replace it with a new one.

4) if I replace the OPG and the engine blows then what? I can't return it under warranty because it's modified and has aftermarket opg's. Either way I'm out 25-30k.

5) im not worried about a warranty as I do my own work. But I also don't like wasting time. I guess what a lot of you been saying has got me thinking. If I replace the OPG and the engine blows I wasted time and money. Either way it's not going to the dealer.

6) my cars not stock. As I said I'm not worried about the warranty but now I'm confused which way to go. Aftermarket opg's would give more peace of mind though. But it's not a guarantee fix.

I'm gonna buy a new GT350 oil pump and inspect the gears myself.

Update: I just ordered a pump from my dealer now. Cost $148.00

Given that price, it is unlikely billet. But it is better to buy the oil pump and test for yourself rather than speculate.

Thanks for taking the time to research this further. Out of curiosity, which part number did you choose? There is a Ford Performance billet oil pump for the 5.0, but it retails for $800+ and may not work with the 5.2...

https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-6600-50CJ

If it would work with the 5.2 (and if it's not a downgrade due to the smaller inlet/outlet sizes), that's a possibility that would at least allow you to retain your warranty... If you were willing to let your dealer install it, of course. Which opens up a whole other can of worms...

I purchased the stock oil pump assembly for the voodoo.
The 5.0 and 5.2 oil pumps are not the same. The 5.0 has a bolt on pick up tube. The 5.2 has a female socket that the pans integrated pick up mates to. The 5.2 is also a higher psi pump.

Given that you are doing this not only for yourself but for the community and since we will all benefit from the information that comes out of this, let me know if you want some money towards the pump. I personally don't mind sending a few bucks your way to help offset the cost.

Absolutely no money is needed. I'm doing this for myself and all of us. I will evaluate the steel and post what I find. I'll use the new pump with new billet opg's anyhow. Thank you for the offer though.
Funny thing is, the 1 hour conversation I had with Tom at ford performance. He said 98% of the calls they receive about the GT350 are people asking when they will offer a blower. The other 2% was from me lol.

Wow - that is really surprising... i would have thought most of the calls would have been "when is my production date".

What do you want to inspect? I have one on hand and have the oem gears on my workbench. I have run my 5.2 Voodoo CPC motor 800+ miles and raced it at OUSCI. I put the Boundary Gears in mine. It held up fine. I am doing head work right now and fixing to check Piston to Valve clearances this week. Motor hopefully goes back together next week and we hit the Dyno. BTW it dynoed 484 WHP on 93 octane base tune 22* timing. GT350 manifold and GT 80mm TB. Had to rush to get it ready for SEMA and OUSCI. The relief spring is the only difference in the pump pressure from a GT 5.0 pump.

I can tell you at that price alone it's a piece of shit. I wouldn't be surprised when you open it, to see some brown circular piece with corn in it.
