What year and is it an Automatic or 6 speed? I personally do not have the reliability statistics for SC 5.0 at low boost but, this subject has been talked about allot. I would do what your conscence tells you to do, otherwise you will be worrying about them every time you start your car. Are you going to track, drag raced pinging off the rev limiter etc?
Will be mostly street car with occasional track day. Certainly not seeing me bouncing off the rev limiter.

Is this something you can do down the road? I dont know how comfortable I am replacing them, and if I do I have heard alot of mixed reviews on what to replace it with.

Don’t overthink it. If you don’t intend to bounce off the rev limiter, then you will be fine without OPGs.

If I had the front of the engine open, I would knock them out right away. Cheap insurance.

But I wouldn't go out of my way to install just them.

I can only tell you, their are quite a few people pushing more HP and never had issues with them failing. I know Ford/Roush on their PD cars Do Not Replace them. That was from my Ford Performance Rep. In fact, unless an owner ask for the OPG/CS to ne replaced when His Ford dealership installs a Whipple, Roush etc, they Do Not Replace them. As far as replacing them, if your not an experienced mechanic I would not do myself Unless I had help from one.

While billet OPGs are strong, an even bigger concern that is often overlooked is adequate clearance on the Gerotor gears. I’ve seen pics of many with way too much clearance which will surely lead to low oil pressure and oil starvation.

@OhioHPMach1 apparently, forged offerings are even stronger than billet. Ford Racing crank sprockets are said to be made of forged steel. This may be something to bear in mind when deciding on a brand. I’m not aware of any forged OPG offerings and believe they’re all billet, regardless of the brand.

Here are a few pics for reference. Notice the Ford Racing CS doesn’t have the raised center section like my Livernois CS. I’m not sure what the purpose is for this design change, but it’s very apparent. Maybe someone with more knowledge can enlighten us.

The Livernois OPGs also seem to have very tight tolerances, unlike some of the other brands I’ve seen.
