I am going to be doing an ESS kit on the car in the next few months. Plan is to stay at 120 pulley and 93 gas. Do I need to replace the oil pump gear? Crank Sprocket?

Maybe not and I say that because I’ve been running nitrous on my car (making just shy of 640 hp) and running a 2-step with multiple high rpm launches at the drag strip without OPGs and a CS for quite a while.

I have heard the Gen 3 motors the factory gears are a lot stronger... If you are auto, I say no for sure. But with a manual, one money shift and it could be bad... Got a good friend with a 10 speed, ESS, 120 pulley, no CS/OPG, all good no issues....

Have a 6 speed. What does the install look like? And what crank sprocket and pile pump would you all recommend?

I purchased OPGs from Livernois for mine, but haven’t installed them yet.

I think the most important thing is to make sure you check the clearances before installation. I’ve read that certain brands can be too loose on the clearances and won’t build adequate pressure. My plan is to remove the factory OPGs, check them with feeler gauges and compare them to my Livernois set.

A while back I was thinking about whether I was gonna do opg/cs being that most say it's a market scam & not needed. Without searching it up & just reading a post someone else posted about it, this was my 1st video on YouTube suggesting. But we all know YouTube seess all lol

So needles to say that I won't be boosting until opg/cs are done. Weather I'm only pushing 8 psi or 22.

He was making...1000whp....

Probably 2% of boosted cars have aftermarket oil pump gears

Remember none of the warrantied supercharger setups come with them. Ford Racing, Whipple, Shelby, Roush....

And you remember all the people that post here that have broken them? Not many. I'd say you're more likely to smoke a piston or a ring than break an OPG. I wonder if someone could find all the engine failures posted here and do some stats on them.

Are any of these high hp SC cars running 2-steps? That might change the game a bit.

I figured since I‘m gonna pull my timing cover anyways to upgrade springs and change head gaskets, I might as well add the OPGs. As my car sits now, I was worried about it at first with nitrous and the 2-step, but after a whole lot of 5800, 7000 and 7900 rpm launches and they continued to hold up, I just sort of blocked it out of my mind.

It would be nice to know more accurately by year how many have had failures. I believe he is making 1kwhp but I could of sworn that short clip is from when he 1st put on the turbo set up & upgraded the engine due to the opg/cs failure then was making that power after that.

Very off topic and apologies if this is against etiquette, but I see your sig says you have steeda min drops and 20s. Could you DM me a pic of your car? Trying to work out an issue

Good afternoon,
I work for Steeda and just saw your post. If you go to our website, click on project vehicles. Then click on any of the vehicle pictures, you can scroll to the bottom of the page and see the complete build list including wheels and tires. I hope this helps.

What year and is it an Automatic or 6 speed? I personally do not have the reliability statistics for SC 5.0 at low boost but, this subject has been talked about allot. I would do what your conscence tells you to do, otherwise you will be worrying about them every time you start your car. Are you going to track, drag raced pinging off the rev limiter etc?
