Can someone please give us an explanation of how the 18+ Coyotes vary the oil pressure?

I was thinking about it on my drive to work this morning, and couldn't figure out how they did that. When I first noticed my hot engine oil idle PSI was at around 12, it freaked me out. Now I'd like to understand how they do that.

Please and thank you.

Your oil pressure is dependent upon engine speed (the oil pump is spun by the crank) and temperature. With an increase in rpm, you're going to see an increase in oil pressure. When warm, at around 2K rpm you ought to be at about 35 psi, 3k 50-60 psi and 4k about 80 psi or so. Anything above 10 psi at idle is normal. Since oil becomes thinner when it heats up, and thicker as it cools down, the oil pressure in the engine will be higher than normal during start-up

Yeah but like @NoVaGT, I thought 18+ has electronically controlled pressure ?
