Yes, high oil PSI at cold start is completely normal.
Oil PSI will also vary and can be higher or lower depending on:
1) geographic location (colder or all seasonal climate changes vs. neutral/warmer)
2) drivetrain gearing and engine RPM due to transmission and rear diff type
3) oil viscosity
Iām in NJ, an āall seasonā state; If I start up in the morning now with current temps in the 60ās and do normal acceleration, Iām seeing 100psi...
As the oil gets warmer, oil PSI upon acceleration is normally 80 PSI, while normal idle when hot (normal oil temp) is about 20-25PSI, and cruising between 60-65 mph is normally at 40-45PSI in 10th gear.
