Does anyone know why there is a cover in the pan under the oil filter? :sunglasses:

If you look at the passengers side it's open. It's a pain when changing oil and it can be removed with 3 bolts.

If you have a PP it shouldn't be a pain, if you remove the most central bolt then it drops down like a trap door giving you easy access.

Protection, aerodynamics, and possibly cooling.

Use duct tape to hold the door open, and make an aluminum foil 1/2 funnel to direct the oil from your filter to your pan.

Love the idea of using tin foil instead of cardboard. :like: But that might require the removal of my hat. :giggle:

The question is what does it do, especially since the passenger side is void of any cover. OBTW I have the funnel and thank God I have a lift.

Nope, not for me.

I can buy 3 rolls, 600 sq/ft total, of aluminum foil for the same amount of money. That's enough for at least 150 oil changes.
Besides, I never have to waste time/money on paper towels and Simple Green to clean it after every use.
