My dealer said to bring the car back after 3 months and they would do a free check up on it, so this could be the 30 point check

And I'm telling you, this 30 point check will be a load of BS. It will be a visual check on things at most I would have thought.
I can do a 30 point check on a automatic door in about 5 minutes...
Tell me about it.

I used to do pre MOT inspections on HGVs in less than 1.5 hours. 32 tonnes 12 wheels and tyres 8 sets of suspension, drums and brakes. More like a 100 point check I would think.

In fact, I would do a minor service in 1.5 hours!

In Australia, the "first service" between 3 to 5000km is just a diagnostics check. No oil change etc.

The plot thickens.

So, I called another couple of dealers.

First dealer said. That seems unusual. We think what has happened is your service indicator has come on early as the build date was September and maybe they set it from there rather than when the car is delivered. I said, well thats early even if this is the case. He said yeh, seems a bit strange.
He told me that all they can do is carry out the full service and just changing the oil and filter will not reset the message.

Second dealer said thats a bit weird to have that message already. All you can do is bring the service forwards or just ignore the message until nearer the time.

My summery. None of them really know what this means and instead of making a call they are just bluffing their way through it.

Go into the menus between the clocks, and reset from there..:)

I am wondering why the change light has come on so early - I thought it "monitored itself" so have you done any "extreme" driving - track days and such?

There's an option in the menu to reset the "oil life indicator". Is yours an oil msg or a service msg or what?

I reset mine when I changed the oil but don't know what info it's based on i.e. mileage/revs/number of cold starts/combination of all or any.

eta: just seen Enoch's post. If it was like mine his wouldn't have been displaying anything, but when doing the oil change it makes sense to reset it to "zero".

Absolutely not!! How can you ask such a thing. I have done no Silverstone track days, line locks or anything like that and I have NEVER even taken it over 3000 rpm. EVER!

So, I am wondering if it is a message that cannot be cleared by the user
