That'll be where they identify all the bits it didn't leave the factory with ;)

But surely Ford themselves pay for the cost of that (if anyone does) ? You should just pay for the work you want doing. If Ford want something else doing on top, I can't see why you, or indeed any of us, should be paying for the extra time taken to do that.
The inspection was done on my car when I had the oil and filter change - however, I wasn't charged any extra for it. They're taking the p:censored:ss.

Okay. He got back to me.
Ford asks for a 30 point inspection to be carried out at the same time as the oil and filter change.
I will ask for the list. I don't want warranty issues so as long as the list looks genuine, I will have it done.
They should send you a headcam video of the inspection being done. ThinkFord Guildford do this (even on a Fiesta). No doubt it's either to get more work, or because they've been stung for letting a car out with a fault that 'should have been spotted'. Probably both.

I find it strange people are worried about voiding their warranty by getting a service done by someone other than ford, when your legally allowed to have it done by some one VAT registered.
Yet your happy to modify your car when it's a well documented risk of voiding warranty.

Just make sure your hanging around like a hawk when the new boy with a hangover is putting the oil back in the car

I have made sure my mods will not affect the warranty. I have money behind me but don't wanna take the knock of replacing a 5 litre V8 for the sake of being sensible.
You are right about the fact you do not have to go to the dealer for work but if ford can show that going elsewhere caused the problem it will and can affect the warranty.
What I need to do is find out what this 30 point check is aand if it is an integral part of the ford maintenance schedule. If it is, I will have it done.

I can understand the worry over warranty etc. But overall, I think I'd be more worried about leaving my car with the main dealer.

On a similar topic, did anyone get a service book? (I was told you don't get one anymore)

I got two, and neither was stamped.
Sent one back and asked that they stamp the PDI and warranty pages. They did the PDI but not the warranty. I gave up at this point.

No, I had to ask and when they sent it out nothing was stamped, I just couldn't be bothered after that.

Its such a shame that dealers have given themselves these reputations.

A change oil light comes up on my display, I should have called/emailed the dealer and gone down there and had it done. Pay a bit more than my local back street garage? Yep, fine.

But instead, I get told over 200 squid! Then and only when I ask, I get an explanation that it includes a 30 point check and book says allow 1.5 hours!

Is this check a part of the Ford maintenance schedule or something the dealer has decided to add? I dont know.

Why does it even need a 30 point check after a few thousand miles?

Nah, I feel a little annoyed this morning.

Still, there are worse stories than mine out there. At least I have the car!!
