Your numbers mean nothing. They are a stand-alone measurement of what was in the oil (who's to say that stuff is bad?) at the time you changed it.

I'll say it, waste of money, and if you do it after every change, that's even crazier.

I don't know why people trip about oil. Besides changing at recommended intervals, and using a quality product, there's nothing to do.

As for doing it after every oil change, why are you panties in a wad? People spend more at Starbucks in two weeks than what I will spend on a year's worth of oil analysis...

A bunch of 11-14 guys got "the tick" after doing their first oil change early. There was talk of a special additive added to the crankcase from the factory and that doing your first oil change early was not recommended.

I dont know, on my 12 I use to change the oil every 8-9k miles. On my 15 my first oil change was at 9k and the dash oil percentage still showed life.

Interesting. After my first oil change I had the tick tick tick at idle too. I was about to bring it in, but after 2 days it disappeared and I havnt heard it since.

Agreed. The report shows absolutely nothing but if it makes one feel warm and fuzzy all over...............

It's like analyzing air and finding it's got Oxygen, Nitrogen and Carbon Dioxide and Methane.

Of course there will be metal traces (amongst other things) in oil.

Meh... the car will last 100+k miles easily with factory recommended Motorcraft oil. No need for Amsoil.

It'll last 200K, at least, with any oil you can buy today.

I had a 1990 5.0 that burned a crapload of oil. Basically never changed it after 125K mi. Just added oil. Not sure about the filter. It ran over 225K, sold it!

I'm not an expert by any means but I believe that if the manufacture recommends to change every x thousands of miles, they must know what they as doing otherwise they would have every engine blowing out and would be in a forever hole. I am not disagreeing that the analysis shows all kind of things but I am sure the manufacture knows that as well. Maybe an oil is better than others but still, I follow what the manufacture recommends. I don't get my cars to stick with me forever. I always sell before my warranty runs out. Now, if anyone's intention here is to keep the car forever, that may be a good thing...MAY.
Just out of curiosity, since I never have done an oil analysis before, how much it costs? Btw, I don't drink coffee, so Starbucks don't get my money.

well, heres a bad report, but its from my old wrx and you can read their concerns..which is why i parted it out and traded it in..

so it could be useful if your motor was having consumption issues like mine was. silver should be 0, and mine shot up after a day at the racetrack. but even my first report was at 1, guys with brand new ones were showing 4-5..lol

But factory oil is good enough to get more than enough miles out of a car before trading/selling. Unless the owner is one of those who drives cars 750k miles. I rarely keep cars past 40-50k miles.

Depends what someone is doing with the car. If youre one of those people thats fine selling a hard beat on car thats had not the greatest oil in it. Sure i guess you could. If the person isn't someone that beats on the car and doesnt drive it hard with a cold engine, yeah i guess the factory junk works okay. For those of us that care about the quality of the car we sell, race it/beat it like it owes us money, it isnt great oil for the car.

If I choose to go full synthetic, it will be when the turbo/s go on the car. I will choose something just as good other than Amsoil though.

Depending on what you want to do and fuel you want to use. Amsoil is really the best choice. Most oils dont hold up to e85 very well. As in it delutes oil. Especially something to consider since you just filled out for the ff lund tune. Amsoil has a strong resistance to that. there isnt anything thats just as good as amsoil. Nothing. The only company that did in early 2000s changed their forumla. Amsoil has no rival to date currently.
