I have a 2019 mustang GT performance pack one. Have any of you run an oil additive such as liquid Moli in your engine? If so any successes or negatives?

Additives are snake oil in most cases. Of course Ceratec might help the infamous tick if you have it. Some see results, others don't. No reason to use anything else imo.

The question is "why ?" as in "what are we trying to solve/improve"? I used oil additives 40 years ago, not since. because there has been no reason to in any of my cars.

Nothing you buy off the shelves (additives) will do anything beneficial.

I use a zinc additive since they took most of the zinc out

Why? Modern engines aren't designed in a way that makes zinc useful. I could see using a high zinc oil on a fresh engine build as a break in oil, but other than that and old engines from the 1970's and earlier, there's no point. I suppose diesels are an exception as well, but I don't know much about them.

Zinc is wrong for modern engines, it's for flat-tappet cam break-in. You have roller-tappet hydraulic cam IIRC. It has an adverse effect on cats/O2 sensors. Definitely to be avoided.

Use a good quality motor oil and you won't need oil additives. Same goes for fuel...

Low compression rings will get gummed up. Without oil separators it will continually get worse the longer it goes. It's the nature of the beast.

Decades ago before array of additives we have today, I used STP oil treatment. Using higher viscosity lube was marketed to quiet internals years ago, but that may not be the best overall solution. I learned that the viscosity was too high for the Pennsylvania climate, especially in cooler/cold months.

That said, often the best solution is to use the right weight oil based on the manufacturer's recommendations for your climate/season/operation. Our manuals give us some leeway there. If you get a ticking, maybe adjusting the viscosity weight alone resolves it. Auto manufactures work closely with the API and adjust recommendations as oils improve. Manufacturers are well aware of additives on the market but they are not going to go chase them.
