Official Ford Sync3 3.4 Release

When I pulled in my garage day before yesterday I noticed it said software update. Normally I do this over USB but was unable to send the confirmation file back so I figured it was reloading that. Today it said it was finished updating and I noticed my maps went from 1 17 (was 1 19 but didn't show it) to 2 20. I guess it does update Maps over the air.

Yes, that is what we have been saying about this particular update; the maps come with the sync update via WiFi. This is the first time anything has successfully downloaded over WiFi for me. There are about 10-15 downloads that will take place. Even after you see the NA 220 maps and updated Grace Notes, there are more downloads to come.

Same here connected the car to my jobs wifi and a battery tender and it also updated after the usb sync update I did.

no because after every update you have to shut the car down and let it sit for 5 minutes and then restart it and then the download will start

OK, same here, even when on charger. I let it shut itself down and then go turn on accessory about every 30 min. I'm on day 3 or 4 of doing this and it's still downloading other updates.

are you keeping record of the updates? I noticed that one of the updates it download 3 times back to back

I've noticed that also, and then the numbers that had updated on Grace Notes disappears.

Is there an easy way to keep a battery tender lead connected? It was so easy on my C7, just plug it in.

i say once you see a file being downloaded a 2nd time stop otherwise it will redownload everything all over again. What I suggest is to download until you see your gracenote and maps show the latest updates and then stop

not really but after every update you have to restart the car to be able to download the next update. Once a file downloads and installs it won’t download another one

Matthew, I have the CTEK charger. There are accessories that allow you to hardwire in the engine compartment and then insert one plug when ready to charge. I only added an extension charging cable to mine. I can keep the CTEK hanging on the wall and then run the single cable to positive on battery and negative on the shock tower. There are other threads that explain why you want to use the shock tower, as battery management plays well with that setup. I can close the hood with my setup, just like we can close the rear hatch on the C7 plugged into the rear 12 volt power plug. But no it is not plug-and-play like the C7.

I've got the same system. Just gotta hook it up.

After all that is said and done one would think that Ford should have given an outline of the changes that are included in this update.

My system downloaded via WiFi download 3 and when it rebooted the WiFi no longer will find any WiFi networks
