Tried three USB keys nothing is happening. '21 Mustang GT.
Formatted exFat (2 of them 8GB and one is 4 GB). The files unzipped in the root directory.
I'll try again tomorrow morning, car on and plug in the 4GB to the front USB.
Should it be this tricky?
I'm finding none of my drives work except one. The latest one.

Yeah, it can be. Are you getting an error message?

Nothing happens... left each key in for five mins. Car idling. Nothing.
I formatted the third key exFat and will try that in the morning (it was FAT32 as a test just to see). It is the smaller of the other two.

Use the 8gb and exFat. For some reason Ford wants us to use larger drives even if the actual file sizes are smaller. I use a 32gb and have never had an issue.

Same here, when I did the map updates. No issues with the thumb drives.

Mine updated yesterday via WiFi. I noticed when I pulled into the garage tonight, the screen showed it was doing an update download. I have no idea what it is updating.

I used a 4GB usb drive formatted ExFat. It recognized it immediately then gave me an error message. Realized the .zip expander did not make the "SyncMyRide" directory. Used another it made the directory. Put the 4GB key in the car and it recognized it and updated immediately. No rebooting just "complete upon car restart". It took less than ten mins and confirmed the new version and gave the XML file on the drive. Thx for all your help.

Moral of the story: Try many different USB keys formatted exfat (for later cars) and make sure two files are in the root directory and the SyncMyRide folder is made as well.

My car updated a couple of days ago. Last night when I pulled into the garage, I notice this downloading. I turned off the car, so don't know if it completed or not. Does anyone know what this update is? It is not the Sync 3.4 update that we have been talking about. I thought the updates that begin with 4U5T are map updates. I've been on the 1.19 for months and don't know anything about a new map being released, especially one that would download free, since I've used my freebies a long time ago.

You're spot on. For best results use at least an 8gb USB "C" drive.

Glad you were finally able to get it done.

Here is what the files look like.

Mine keeps trying to download the same update. Ford website keeps telling me I have an update: 21020 but that already installed over wifi. C'mon Ford.
