Generally, the statement "from the factory" refers to the original manufacturer. So for a 2015 Mustang that would be Ford. If you had said "from the dealer" then you open it up to other aftermarket options.

My car came from the FACTORY with active exhaust. Better?

He's just being a smartass, since he has a Challenger now per his signature, which has active exhaust from the factory. So he is referring to an OEM, just not Ford.

Got that harness from Borla directly - just called and let them know what was going on.

I installed factory 350 mufflers on my GT. Took the electronic actuators apart and direct wired the DC motors to power. Using a Dual Pole, Dual Throw switch and a 12v source from the car I am able to open and close the mufflers with the tap of a hidden switch inside the car.

I used the factory Ford connectors and soldered my own wiring to them to make my own harness. Harness runs up through a grommet in the spare tire well, then under the carpet all the way up to the center console where the switch is mounted in the little cubby under the radio.

Except it doesn't have to be that prices, since XForce sells their Varex catback in the $1,300 range, which is basically the same as the top end exhausts from Corsa or AWE.

Only problem with the Varex catback currently is that it comes with a resonated midpipe so it's too quiet for most people.

Word is that sometime this year a new version is coming out that will address those concerns though

Varek has a valve that opens and closes on the tail pipe. I don't know about the Corsa. The AWE has a valve in the H pipe that when it is open the H pipe is active, when it closes the H pipe is, um, closed. Therefore you have straight pipes. They are completely different systems and they will sound very different. I prefer the AWE, I love the way it sounds.

I have the remote from QTP and it works great! Very simply to hook up and operate.

Finally got this done!

I scored a great deal on a Magnaflow GT350 Competition Catback. I had the exhaust shop take the leads down to 2.25'' and the rest bolted right up. Since I didn't have any of the motors or wiring yet, I rigged some bailing wire to keep the valves from fluttering and rattling.

I contacted Borla and (thanks to advice from Ford Performance) told them that I needed to replace a broken part of the M-5200-M8 kit. The control box, wiring, and remote cost about $100 shipped.

Motors came from Levittown Ford for $93 each. Borla was certain that their wiring would not work with OEM motors and that theirs were "different" but they fit right in and work properly so no worries there for anyone who may get push back.

Wiring is relatively simple, even though the directions from Ford did not work with my vehicle. The box is mounted down low in the spare tire well. You reuse a factory grounding location. Power (for me) had to be pulled from a switched 12v source and I used a blue/white wire that powers the backup camera. I got power right behind the pass side back seat and ran the wire next to the factory harness to the back. Everything else dropped in and was plug and play. I love the active exhaust!

Tip :
it's easiest to plug them in BEFORE putting the axleback on.

Route the wire, get the axle back situated, and make sure it's all aligned. Secure the excess wire and enjoy!
