A few years late but came across this thread in hopes of answering a similar question. I've got a Roush x-pipe with the stock active exhaust, and I wanted to know how the car would sound with headers as well but keeping the stock mufflers. I want more loud and chance for more power but without too much rasp or making the car obnoxious.

Came across this video, was pretty helpful and he shows the set up with X and H pipes.

Kooks 1 7/8" LTH with greencats on an OEM active exhaust with valves wide open (track mode). This is a clip from my car, on cold start. Its a nice sound, gets plenty loud when you step on it.

I had briefly tried an x-pipe with the same headers and stock active rear mufflers, the tone was too raspy for me, and the system was way too loud in anything except quiet mode.
