Which one did you go with?
I can't seem to find any AMG battery's in 96R except Odyssey.
I like my Odyssey, but Motorcraft and other brands also sell them. Just search the web for '96R AGM' (not AMG) to see what's available near you.

My OEM battery just died at 29.9k miles. I’m considering replacing it with an EFB or AGM battery. Good idea or overkill? I live in the San Francisco Bay area so no weather extremes. Also looking for brand recommendations. Or should I just go with the delear’s motorcraft brand? Thanks for any suggestions!
AGM only for me

I just threw in a regular NAPA $200 battery and did the BCM reset. Don t overthink it.
Yup, same here a AAA 600 CCA battery which NAPA sells. Had to call AAA for a jump start but actually needed a new battery. Service guy said that from his experience, the AGM's don't last very long in cars.

I would still like to find a battery in the 700-750 CCA range. Any ideas let me know!!

I stated this on another post, the one module that is the root of all evil that Ford has installed is the Telematics module. This little POS communicates to Ford over available WIFI networks. While it does allow system software updates, it also reports your driving habits to Ford. If you have WIFI enabled and not set up to a particular Network, then this module will kill you battery overnight as it keeps trying to connect. I suggest you set it up but disable it and keep it off.

Have you tested this personally?

My 2019 Bullitt has sucked all power from its battery in 3 weeks of locked standby on several occasions even with a battery which was replaced under warranty 2 years ago. Recently thought about the issue you are mentioning and switched off both "Wifi" and "Auto-Update" from the settings menu

The concern is valid, but the communications method is different.

Wi-Fi can impact vehicle batteries, drain, charging systems, yes. I encourage people to disable wireless and bluetooth from the in-car menus, if not needed or not in-use. But Wi-Fi (802.11) signals do not travel far enough to be any use to Ford.

Telematics communicates to Ford via the in-car cell antennas, in the rear of the S550. Cell signals, towers and networks are everywhere, all the time. Further, while the Owner can readily turn down Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, disabling the in-car cell antennas take a bit more effort.

I'm attaching a link, a photo and some reference information. If concerned about what Telematics is sending Ford, a fuse can be pulled or a cable can be disconnected.

In the photo, look at the point on the left rear corner, the grey-looking square with some cables attached at the bottom; that's one of the car's cell antennas, referenced in the logical diagrams. There's one on the right side as well.

As to how often Ford uses the cell link, IDK. I've never tried to measure that.

As to the Auto-update features, yes, that could be turned-down as well. I know when updating Sync and from several reference documents, updating in-car systems can draw a lot of power. I turn off auto-update on everything I own, for both power and security. I like to read-up on any updates before installing. Periscope up, update, periscope down.

From a power perspective, one can down Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Auto-update.

From a security perspective and what Ford sees, one can down Telematics.

For those who went with AGM, did you have to reprogram the BCM and switch the battery type to AGM?

...
I did the BMS reset, but I didn't reprogram the BCM or change the battery type. I only have Forscan Lite and I don't think it can change battery type. The battery is always on a tender when at home. The battery and charging system seem to be working properly, but what do I know?
