As the title states, the vehicle won't shift into manual mode. Here is the background. I took my steering wheel off and center console apart to have them both redone. While the steering wheel was still off I reattached the center console and started the car to make sure the shifter and e-brake were working properly. As expected the dash lit up with warnings and I turned the vehicle off. A few days later when I got the wheel back I put everything back together, started the car and got the message "see manual." Of course I have no idea what to look for as the message is super cryptic. I plugged my nGauge in and pulled two hard codes, P2781 and U0103. Once everything was back together I left the battery unplugged for a day in hopes to reset the codes, but to no avail.

Researching those codes reveals P2781 is Downshift circuit high. Possible causes are a failed downshift switch, wiring issue, shifter assembly failure and ECU programming issue. Code U0103 is lost communication with gear shift module. As far as the steering wheel controls, all of the controls work properly, as do the shifter controls in the main shifter.

If I hold down both paddles it will go into neutral and the "M" illuminates on the shifter and the dash. The same thing happens if I hold down the down shifter and keep it held down. If I continue to hold down the down shifter I can then physically upshift with the paddle and the car will not upshift on its own. Once I release it again goes back into drive mode. I am all ears as to what this could be or if anyone else has experienced this issue.

I brought the vehicle to Ford and they refused to attach their diagnostic tool due to my vehicle being tuned. If I put the vehicle back to the stock tune they will look at it, but until then I am hoping someone on here may have a solution. Thanks in advance.

Can't help with the problem, but reach out to ibcelin_fords on instagram. He owns a Ford dealer in SoCal and will probably be able to help you if your dealer won't

You either missed a plug or damaged a wire bundle. I recommend removing the console and checking every wire bundle.
I’m actually going to put another 500 wheel on this weekend and start there. If it works then I know it’s the harness, which is where I’m leaning.

I have a feeling your issue will be under the center console. But there’s always the off chance you damaged or pinched one of the wires going into the paddle modules.

any update?
Going to Upland Ford on Thursday. Had to get a stock tune from Lund and I’ve been working the last few days so haven’t been able to do anything.

Negative thats 91 and Boostane. Once I get this issue sorted I'll add the E85 tune and report back. Already threw the 2.875 pulley on just need to add the new tune.
