I did feel a noticeable difference between his 3:55 gears and my 3:73.
With the older 25.5" tires on his car and the new 27" tires on your car, the overall gear ratio with 3.55s on his and 3.73s on yours is almost exactly the same. Should be seeing virtually the same rpm in every gear at a given speed.

It felt very different. His gears were longer.

435 HP is fast. Do you realize a 1999 Mustang GT made 260 HP, and a 2008 made 305?

For their time, and the market at the time, these were not considered slow. The new Mustang is refined, and the Coyote power band is different than some are used to.

I enjoyed a spirited drive yesterday. Gliding over R/R tracks and accelerating out of a turn coming off a bridge crossing the head wall bump convinced me of the GT. Grand Touring has meaning with this s550.

Turning the car into a dragster really the best idea? Is the strip a definer for you?

As for the gearing, on a spirited road drive with the 3.73 i work 4, 5th gear never falling under 2.75 rpm. 6th gear..is not spirited until, what would you guys say 100mph maybe?

BFTX,

Yes I'm aware the previous generations had less power.

I owned a 94 5.0 with 215 HP. It was slow.

My 15 GT feels plenty fast and its not even a PP. I traded a challenger rt in on the mustang. It had an intake, catback, jet 180 stat, and tune and still this new mustang feels way faster. I have no doubt, even stock it would embarrass the challenger. So, no complaints here. The power of this 15 puts a smile on my face every time I drive the car.

I think anyone driving the GT and saying it doesn't have enough power just isn't on the right roads. Take this thing on a twisty country road or mountain pass and you will quickly realize it is a monster. Quickly.

Don't get me wrong, I'm having a lot of fun with my new 5.0 / It seems like there is quite a bit of mixed opinions on this topic.

I know one thing for sure, every time I look at my car (black paint / black wheels) I don't regret my purchase. Ford did an outstanding job on the styling for the s550's.

I have realized that the throttle response is WAY more impressive in sport + mode and above 3500 rpms... the car feels fast in the conditions/settings for sure

Those who didn't get the premium don't have the sport + mode :(

True, but you do have a stick shift and you can keep the engine on "boil" as much as you want to. Doesn't matter the mode, if you are over 4,000 RPM there's plenty of power available.

I'm pretty in tune with my vehicles and I cant tell a bit of difference in throttle response between them.
