for aftermarket intake manifolds.

Apparently there isn't enough room between the hood and engine for even the boss intake manifold.

Lets hope this isnt true....or some cowls will be introduced early.

I read the same thing on svtperformance hopefully they will make one that will fit under that 35mm lower hood line. I might get me a 2'' cowl hood if all else fails that should do the trick.

Somewhere (I believe on the thread where numbers were recently released) it reads that the reason the V6 gets 5 less Hp for the 2015's is because they had to modify the intake manifold because the hood wouldn't clear it. I'm sure the Coyote is a bit different but it seems to me that the OP might be on to something.

I just mentioned the same thing on another thread but it didn't post. You'll see the stuff around SEMA, I was looking at the Boss torque curve and doing some back calculations based off of what we know and due to the low hoodline we will see a faster torque drop on the high end. We will have great low-mid torque but I fear from what I have seen in recent pictures that the intake does not have the volume for making power up high (no free HP with a rev limit change) FR should have an intake for the PWC and Conti cars around SEMA which will require a hood and different strut brace. Tiger racing will have hoods pretty quick.

Wow, there is alot of specilation on on a car that no one even has yet, have not driven yet, closely inspected and yet make an assumption

What do you consider "up high" to be? I believe it's been stated it makes peak power at 6500. I'm assuming you didn't expect peak power to arrive at redline?

There's just as much doubt about things that could be factual. Speculation about speculation that has just as little merit.

But I wouldn't know anything about that...

The Boss didn't make peak power at it's rating, it continued to make more power up to redline and beyond. If peak power is at 6500 and not just a rating point that means the intake designed to fit under and extremely low hood line runs out of air above 6500-Again not a bad thing, just a fact. The car is engineered for the masses, not racers.

This in no way is meant to undermine what has been accomplished. Math is math. This car is going to be very strong on the street. We were just discussing track duty modifications.

When we get the actual curves to look at we will know for sure, we will either be presently suprised or find out what we already suspect. Hopefully all the haters expecting 500HP left the forum to go buy a new Civic.

In order for the Boss manifold to be beneficial you need to get a throttle body and headers as well as a tune. You will loose all the midrange torque of the stock manifold. The only decent gains are above 7100 rpm. Be prepared to rev it to the moon to take advantage of the gains.

Again.... We were just discussing track duty modifications. The Boss was fast because it had excellent mid punch, it only suffered down low, by design. It simply had an operating range that was moved up 1500-2000RPM from the GT where the engine is a much more efficient air pump.

Headers would be the last modification most should consider. Especially when they are typically just long tube headers that are not tuned to the engine therefore they provide little benefit. Technically there would be a different set of headers for stock intake and one for aftermarket / Boss style intake. All mass produced headers are built for packaging/installation. Normal people would not pay for a true set of tuned headers built to exploit the engines exhaust pulses/volume.

^^^Solid post...On the flipside you dont have to be a hater to be disappointed with the numbers and I only saw one person that mentioned 500hp and they had nothing to back that claim/want up with. To want 450hp/400tq isnt dreaming and the odds are you will easily see those numbers in 2016 when the new Camaro comes to town. I hardly think an extra 15hp is living in Civic "dreamland" which by the coments is what most people wanted/expected.

If these comments are right it means no Cobra jet intake unless we want a new hood.

Rear end gears

Hi,
I think you would be more concerned with the larger rear ring gear, more guys do stiffer gears than intakes, no longer an 8.8 diff, so that means no easy or cheap gear changes, IRS is labor intensive also.. You'll be running the same gear for a year or 2 until the aftermarket catches up.
