Hi,
I think you would be more concerned with the larger rear ring gear, more guys do stiffer gears than intakes, no longer an 8.8 diff, so that means no easy or cheap gear changes, IRS is labor intensive also.. You'll be running the same gear for a year or 2 until the aftermarket catches up.
Perry.:eyebulge:
It might be that gear options are limited initially, but the aftermarket will catch up. I'm certain of that, but it might be slow if the axle isn't shared with other vehicles. The 8.8 is prolific, so the volumes are huge. The same will be true of other differential options - out of the box, the choices will be Traction-Lok and Torsen, and that's it. But it sounds like this new axle is more robust all around. As was noted elsewhere, that's the price of progress.

Should be interesting to see how TT fitment is under the hood...
Do you have pics of yours you could post, were they mounted low or up top/front?

^^^Solid post...On the flipside you dont have to be a hater to be disappointed with the numbers and I only saw one person that mentioned 500hp and they had nothing to back that claim/want up with. To want 450hp/400tq isnt dreaming and the odds are you will easily see those numbers in 2016 when the new Camaro comes to town. I hardly think an extra 15hp is living in Civic "dreamland" which by the coments is what most people wanted/expected.

If these comments are right it means no Cobra jet intake unless we want a new hood.
Thank you, I have to get my digs in when I can :)

From what we know our cars will put the power down very well, roll on will be excellent. I was hoping for an across the board 5% improvement, but as one of the members, 5.0? guessed 435 was the number. Ford has to keep something up their sleeve and I prefer not paying a GG Tax. FR will have an Oem quality tune (track key) that will be plug and play and get us a decent improvement.

I remember in '90 when Ford was releasing the 4.6 architecture the design was influenced by lowering hood lines, it's why they are so fat and short(height), 10K mile oil changes requires a lot of oil (oil pan volume) so you can only set the engine so low.

I'm old and grew up with 130HP V8's so 435HP is damn impressive. My Friends '03 Cobra with a blower was only rated at 390HP so some perspective by everyone is needed here. Life ain't that bad.

Perspective....on what was accomplished with our '15 engine. If you don't think we are reaping the benefits gained from the Boss program, I have nothing left to add and will stop wasting my key strokes on you.

I'll add that Ford would likely take more heat if they released this engine at more or the same power as the Boss from all the people who bought/own a Boss that paid a premium for those cars knowing how much better our chassis is.

My understanding is that it is still an 8.8". It just has a larger diameter pinion shaft to support more load. You are correct in that the gear set choices will lag behind but you can get the car from the factory with all the ratios anyway so FR will have those in the catalog right away. I see no need for 4.10's unless you plan on doing a very high winding big tire drag car, in which you would most likely tub it and put a solid axle in it.

Somehow I suspect the fact that the GT will beat their track-bred model on its own turf is of much more concern to them than the possibility of the GT having more horsepower. But yeah, I get what you're saying... I'm sure it would have only added insult to injury. ;)

I watched the following last night and it reminded me how amazing the new Mustang is going to be...The GT is going to be better than the car these guys are reviewing...

No Room Under The Hood

Do any of you believe that the new Whipple Supercharger for the 5.0 won't fit?

I'm certain that it will fit without having to replace the new, and no doubt expensive aluminum hood that Ford has chosen to help balance the front to rear weight ratio.

I'm equally confident that Whipple Industies didn't spend huge amounts on development of the new front intake SC for the 2015 Mustang Coyote motor only to find out that it won't fit under the hood.

As an added benefit of the front air intake on the SC, I'm sure the Strut Tower Brace will be able to fit back inplace as well. Unlike the rear feed intake.

IMHO Of course thats just my hope! I really have no idea. Do you?

How does the strut tower brace fit into this equation? I'm assuming that if one were so inclined, one could remove the STB to gain some room for a larger intake plenum. Or maybe Ford will just need the get the engine to 8000 RPM and use even shorter runners to make things fit.

SC's should fit, they usually take up less space than an intake manifold, most of it is deep in the valley. Hoods really aren't that big a deal, aftermarket does them in CF and Ford would just stamp out a new one or just go with CF.

Another thing to consider is it would be a good candidate for a functional scoop (I know it's tacky) or a shaker i.e. cut a hole in the hood

The TVS is taller than the stocks manifold got 11-14. Stock brace doesn't fit.

But the exchanger is deep. The fastest way to settle the head unit lower would be to shorten the exchanger. This would mean less efficiency but it'll work to fit it.

Centrifugals don't affect height as long as there is room in front to mount it.

Aftermarket engineers are very creative. They'll come. And they'll rock big numbers.

I do hope my kit in about to pull off my 11 will fit at least most of the parts, but I'm not planning on it.
