I thought the idea was after a solid coating of frost if you turned the engine on it would heat up the pony faster so it would melt there first to create the contrast?

Perhaps it would work better in an area that gets bone cold?? We only got down in the low 30s last night. I shot the photo at around 6:30 a.m.

Kindly add me to the list of those that are not interested whatsoever to know where the hidden "ponies" are.
Why are you even posting in this thread then? You obviously don't care... so move on.

Your hood has a thick sound deadening blanket attached to the hood. If you are trying to melt frost, you would need to remove the blanket, and allow the engine department to warm up. The stamped pony-oval will warm up first and melt the frost. With dew/frost, I would expect that the pony design would cool off more quickly than the rest of hood and thus condense first. But again, I think that the insulation blanket is diffusing the heat loss. I asked a factory rep about the sound blanket interfering with the symbol; he said that that sounded reasonable, since he personally hadn't yet seen the design appear.

I highly doubt anyone, regardless of age will be tearing their cars apart just to look for the ponies. A far more likely scenario would be someone who happened to find while upgrading/replacing/maintaining some part of the car. If it's true I certainly don't see any harm in it. I think it adds a little fun to the legend.

I do agree that the time would be better spent with a couple beers. Then again, there's always time for beer.
Very well said..

(Better yet, time spent with beer AND my pony, in the garage ... obviously not driving)
