I went with a $12 cellphone magnetic mount. Didn’t use the back cup mount that attaches to the gauge. Perfect for me. Eventually route the wire out of the vent. But for now it’s fine

Looks good man. I use those same mounts for my cell phone. Not sure why I didn't think of that. lol
I like the flat cable..

Wonder if I can buy that separate.

I had a windshield mount but the motherfucker come falling off the windshield if it sat out in the heat for long.
This is why I finally got fed up and did this mod....lol

The windshield was fine for me too but when I open my car after work and my ngauge is laying on the floor really pissed me off.
Even better while I'm driving. lol

Got around to doing this install last night. No more getting back in the car and having the nGauge hanging from it's cord after falling from the windshield. Here's a couple of pics after the install.

I have been installing all track have to have gauges on my A pillar long before it was cool to do so,(mid 70's) here is a snap shot of the A pillar set up on my Honda S2000 I used simple 2 1/8" gauges and housed them in 1 1/2" black pvc tubing cut to match the windshield angle. Everyone that looked at it thought it was very nice.

Nice

I won't lie, I think this auto meter gauge mount is kinda wonky but it works at least. haah
Yeah I get it. But I do like it much better than a suction cup on the windshield!

I need to find a good way to tighten those screws on the socket with it mounted in place. Mine are just a little too loose and there is a slight amount of movement I want to get rid of.

They do look good. Is it just my eyes or are the tubes wrapped in something too?

I cut a groove on the side to slide the wires thru , used a old windex bottle cut into the oven shape of the back side of the tubes and glued into place. Coated them each with Crinkle paint, then sprayed over with satin black. Gluded them together and secured them in place on the A pillar. The shift light had the same treatment and glued to the tubes. All held togather for 6 seasons of track time

haha. Yeah, I too hated the suction cup mount. Get in my car and my ngauge is laying on the floor.

I need to get a small allen wrench so I can tighten mine a little too. I just took it off to install some tweeters and it's not as tight like it was before.

I found that a 9/64" hex screwdriver bit with a 1/4" ratcheting wrench over the top of it does a good job of getting in that tight space.

@Racemaster and/or @rum_punch_ruby

when you guys drilled the hole in the pillar which drill bit did you use?

Also, Race, you mentioned you wished you would’ve done it w/o the spacer. Do you still feel the same? I don’t have the ability to machine one so I’m going to do it without.

Also - you mentioned you wished you’d drilled it up a bit higher - approx how far away from the tweeter would you recommend?

I’ll be ordering my NGauge over Memorial Day for the sales and want to do this because it looks so clean. I have some interior plastic pry tools so hopefully the pillar isn’t held on with those damn clips of death like they used in the map light housing lol.
