So, did I understand correctly, Tom..you would like to REPLACE the metal exterior snakes with some of these painted versions when/if someone makes one using the new snake? Or maybe just the one in front?

Yes, if someone would make ones like the 07-14 red accent ones, but for the 2020.

Here is an image of the 07-14 red accent snakes.

Honestly, Tom, I bet you could paint them yourself using the same idea Mark used with his lower heat exchanger.

If you took a piece of vinyl or wax paper and put a teaspoon of vegetable oil on it, spread it around evenly then, set the snake face down and rub it back and forth until the high side is coated.

Finally, with a rattle can of Rapid Red, you could hit it with a couple coats, let it dry, then wipe most if not all the paint off the bright side. Might have to rub it on some 600/1200 grit to get it all but I think it would work.

Yes, I was thinking something like that. However since I don't have the car yet, I don't know the material I am dealing with. I'm assuming they are plastic/chrome and paint finish?

They are plastic, with what appears to be chrome and paint, yes.

Belay my last, amigo..I don't think my idea will work.

To date, I hadn't looked at one closely until you brought it up so I went out and had a looksee. I had thought they were made from the chrome colored portion with the black being the accent. But now, I think it's the opposite and I'm not certain all the high spots are the same height, it's tough to tell. And if you had to abrate the top surface to remove paint, you'd almost certainly remove that shiny "chrome plating."

But yes, unfortunately, they're plastic or at least they sound like plastic when you tap 'em. Definitely not as nice as previous 500's.

Maybe I can send them off to China to be hand painted. I haven't had much luck with Chinese stuff lately though.
