Haha, I know Scott, I don't blame you.
I've been over to alpar and read the whole post over it. It will be high nines with the race fuel. Probably just under mid 10s without.

Anyone know how to calculate HP for 4300 lb car going 123 in the 1/8 mile? Need someone to verify my numbers.

looks like those numbers are on 757 hp, with the "red key" 757 is all over the place, and if you slow the video its pretty obvious those are numbers on that power level. dyno reads about 755-60 on the one screen too. they cover up the boost peak with the demon symbol on one of the screens, which makes me think theres more on a race gas tune. they also show that theres 3 power levels available that have variable suspension/steering/trans/traction settings. theres even an easter egg with the number 1121, who knows what that means. regardless, dodge is doing a hell of a job keeping everyone interested and on their toes. if only ford would take a page out of their book...

Ford's timing is looking pretty amazing with this one. The ZL-1 just came out and the Demon will be out soon. Ford can do to both Dodge and Chevy exactly what they have done in the past and one-up them.

But who knows? The Demon may be tough to beat. Did Ford bring a big enough nuke to this fight?

Ford COULD blow them both away. They won't go after both, it'll most likely just be a Chevy Camaro killer, the more competitive builder of them. I don't think ford cares to much about dodge. If ford was all about performance they would bring both.
An ecoboost 5.2 would be easy to get 800hp and a tune button for around 1000hp. 5.2 TT would be nuts for power over 1000 easy. I don't think it's in the cards for the small market, I'd rather have the 755HP all around car with great handling... it's coming too.

755HP is plenty especially when it's capable on all venues. Will get the job done against the ZL1LE and also do a great job...cough cough...on the street against a demon...and it won't look like a hack job either. Nice thought out wide body... no God awful fender flares.

1121 HP is required for a 3900lb car to run 123mph in the eighth.

I am willing to bet the performance we want for the GT500 will cost us. Considering what the 2014 GT500 cost and an increase in inflation since 2014, I see a base price of 70 to 75 thousand dollars for the next GT500. For that kind of money, the GT500 better outrun the ZL1 and Z28 in all performance metrics.

If you built a 2014 gt500 for what comes stock with the ZL1, it would cost near $67,000. Simular equipped ZL1 is $64,000. So can they build a 2018 gt500 for less then the 2014?

It depends on what drivetrain they use.

The 2014 GT500 had a unique engine that even now still pulls over $20,000.

Ford does typically beat GM in both price and performance, so I think the answer is likely to be "yes".
