Strange...
So far we know the MKC and Mustang will recieve the 2.3, and the euro focus RS will as well. The RS in the US market is currently unknown to those not high up the chain. So maybe they are waiting to see where this engine will see its most usage before they begin massing it at a plant as a stable operation. Just a thought.

Romeo loses the 4.6 soon, but historically only 8's have been built there.
True, but Ford has no new V8 engine in the pipeline. The Voodoo engine is just a rumor right now, and even if the runors are true, it is still being sorted out and won't show up in Mustang for dseveral years.

Romeo has two production lines. There's a high volume line which builds the 4.6 and a specialty line for the 5.4 engines that go in the GT500.

The high volume line is the plant's bread and butter line, turning out 140 engines an hour. The only model the 4.6 is still being installed in is the E-Series van, and that will end after the 2013 model year. So if Romeo is going to continue in operation, another engine will have to be assembled on the main assembly line there.

Unless Ford moves production of the Coyote engine from Canada to Romeo (which is not likely, IMO), the Ecoboost 23 could be a prime candidate.

OTOH, the 2.3 EB is said to be based on the 2.0 EB. I don't know how many parts the two engines will have in common, if any. If it turns out to be a significant number of shared parts between the two, it would make sense to build the 2.3 in a plant where the 2.0 is also being built, providing there is capacity for the new engine. If not, then... who knows?

It might depend on what other models will get the 2.3 beyond the Mustang, the MKC, and the Euro Focus. How about the Fusion? It has a lot of weight for the 1.6 (and coming 1.5) engines to haul around, and even with the 2.0, the Fusion is no bat out of hell. The 2.3 would give the midsize sedan a top-of-the-line engine option which would give it better performance, and it would not have to work as hard, meaning decent fuel economy. The MKZ could be another possibility, as the 2.3 should be more efficient in that model than the 3.7 V6.

Romeo has three lines and produces near 4 engines.

You were correct with the 4.6 and the niche line's 5.8.

There's also both applications of 6.2 (Raptor and Super Duty), and they run the 5.0. It gets machined then shipped to Windsor for assembly.

Much of the 4.6 production is currently for storage for warranty motors. They will hold several thousand until the warranties fall off, and then sell them to refurb companies.

Romeo receiving the 2.3 (it is based off of the 2.0, as to how much I don't know) would be beneficial. They currently produce a lot of 4.6's. But that number is dying down quick. Most of Romeo was down this weekend.

Now I'm hearing that the Explorer may also get the 2.3 EB, which would make sense because the 2.0 is less than ideal in that application. 4550 pounds is a lot for the little engine to haul around, and if you put five good-sized adults in the seats and their gear in the luggage space, the engine's job is made all the more difficult.

The Edge could probably use the 2.3EB as well, though it weighs about 450 pounds less than the Explorer. Still, the 2.0 in the Edge doesn't exactly provide snappy acceleration.

So that's two more possibilities for the 2.3, which, if true, would certainly justify production on a high volume assembly line.

Ah, I didn't know Romeo had a third line. Thanks.

So the MKC will be assembled in Louisville, and the Mustangs are built at Flat Rock. So, if you drive up the Interstate from Louisville to Flat Rock, a little over half way there you go through... Lima!

I gotta stop this. I think I may need professional help...

If I were to quit my job, move to the USA, buy a Stang, don't work, just sit on the beach all day and move back after a year I would have more money than when staying here, keeping on working and paying the 130,000 euro for the car.

:headbonk:
You sound like an American already. No need to work; I'll just go on welfare & live off the hard work of other people.

Bump this - I cannot wait to test drive this car. Having a huge front mount intercooler up in front of a mustang will def throw some people off! haha

Mustang ST, FTW. Would be cool to see an intercooler in the lower grille, but it doesn't look like there is one if that red one is indeed an EB.

I expect them to not make it too apparent but I was looking for it on the EB mustangs they showed. It doesnt look like its there but I assure you it will be there!

Look at the focus ST with the 2.0 ecoboost below (cobb intercooler kit)

Cool picture! I guess I kinda expected them to have it exposed like the F150.
