so I was fiddling around with the navigation on my 500 and noticed it was no where near my location on the screen. I then noticed a Small icon that’s gps with a circle around it and crossed in red. My car was stolen in the past and I’m wondering if maybe they removed the SD card? If they did, where would I locate a new one and also, where the heck is the SD port located on a 21?

Pretty sure all the map data is downloaded/updated and stored on the car its self via its always connected modem. and I am pretty sure Ford got rid if the SD card readers years ago.

You need to check if the shark fin on top of the car cable is connected to the radio, this being disconnected would explain the gps being out so it cant be tracked by the ford pass app. Its either disconnected or cut.

The GPS card is in the glove box. It slides in there it’s a small slot.

If there is a card, it's not accessible, so that would be very unlikely. My guess would be that either Ford has an anti theft program where they can zap the cars position/navigation or the thieves cut or disconnected the antenna.

I would go into the trunk and find the telemantic modem and see if the coaxial cables were disconnected or cut. Its behind the trim of your left rear trunk by the tail light. I did an article a while back on it pertaining to data collection. Part of the article talked about where the modem is and how to disconnect it. You can disconnect the modem and leave the GPS coax antenna intact if you want to disable the data collection and uplink.

Let me guess..... the cars location is in the parking lot of Ford wold headquarters in Detroit MI?

Or you can pull the #8 (I think) breaker in the passenger side footwell panel. I never use the car's GPS anyway, (and honestly I don't know if pulling the fuse also kills the GPS,) the phone has better charts.

My sight unseen guess would be its an antenna issue. I am pretty sure the card is still there - as the OP mentions that the map on the screen is nowhere near where he is. If there was no SD card - there would be no map to display on the screen.

I wasn't kidding. Is that the case? I have experienced that before.

Would that be Michigan at Ford world headquarters? Lol.

Good luck with it all.
