I'm thinking it is something which used to be on the car, activated by the switch, but was removed prior to sale. Instead of leaving a hole in the dash, the seller left the mystery button.

Here's my "guesses" as to what the mystery button could be for:

- Fog light override; fog lights can be used independently without needing the headlights. Factory fogs won't come on unless the headlights are on.

- DRL override; kills the DRL LED bars in headlights.

- Electric fan override; allows the user to turn on/off the electric fans on command.

- Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak. When button is depressed your vehicle becomes totally invisible to other drivers on the road.

- Spy Hunter Smoke screen/oil slick activation. Only works at above 70ph as you're dodging traffic and enemies.

- Speed Racer Mach 5 button integration (documented/quoted from here: https://www.therichest.com/uncategorized/20-things-you-didnt-know-about-speed-racer/)

God I hope it turns out to be the spy hunter button.

And to the OP, I might be in the minority here, but I fell like you owe it to us to track it down now. I’m not sure I could sleep at night if this mystery is not solved.

If the dude you bought it from half ass pulled mods on it, could be a nitrous arming button. He could have pulled the actual activation switch from near the shifter, or it could have been set up to automatically go at WOT, once armed.

Radar detector disable. Some jurisdiction it's illegal to have. But if you hide it in the bumper and can turn it off in a jiff, you might duck a ticket. Not uncommon on big rigs.

It's for the passenger ejection seat but needs to be activated. FORScane has a drop-down menu.

Driver's seat activates when airbag deploys

I don't think we ever heard back from the guy who lost a key in his car.

The previous owner probably liked to "black out" the car when his shenanigans involved police intervention. That seems to be a thing lately.

Or... it was just the front mount gatlin' gun.

Last I heard he got fed up looking for the key and traded it in on a 2019 GT PP1 and installed a find your key button . . . he disappeared into the mystery vortex once he pressed that button . . . and story goes his wife still can't find the missing sock in the dryer.

The mystery continues ...

I installed this same switch for my active exhaust. Could be that? Turn on the car and listen for any sound changes.

Could be a kill switch, but that’s too much in plain sight.

Could be another horn? Train horn? Turn on the car and press it.

Maybe underglow or some other lighting.

When you press the switch, does it latch or come back out when you release it?
