Mine was a 1989 Bronco II. The thing was well cared for but still an unbelievable POS. That said, it saved me and my girlfriend's lives in college when I hit a deer at full speed (75mph) and rolled it. It was around midnight, and I'm driving along totally alert, but just like a flash out of nowhere BAM! - the deer jumps right out in front. That's the last thing I remember. Came to on the opposite side of the highway on the roof. We were both, relatively, okay. She was unscathed, I had a long night in the ER but I'm still alive and kickin, so.

First car was a hand-me down from my parents, starting driving it in 2005 when I was learning to get my license. I learned to drive stick in that car, and taught all my friends in High School lol. Great memories.

1989 Honda Accord LX 5Spd Manual

Those stripes you see were added by the dealer, and the line item reads "graphic pinstripe" for 195.00 lol.

The price was $16,970CAD and out the door it was $19,147CAD, in 1989.

These pics were from the last day I had it, 2008. Sold it to a young kid also looking for a first ride, for $500 bucks.

Glad you're still around to tell the tale!

mid 1980's Dodge Aries with ~250k+ miles. Front bumper/grill was tied on with a 100' telephone cord, lots of rust, and many many other issues. $500 front yard special in 1998. Yeah....

'72 Gran Torino Sport. Had a 351 Windsor that couldn't get out of its own way. Probably a good thing.

Although technically it wasn't mine, my brother had a 73 yellow pinto that I drove more than he did. I had a learner's permit and had to drive with a licensed driver. My buddy had a license but couldn't drive a manual. Gas at the corner stop-n-go was 45 cents a gallon then. $5 would go far... I got a 72 mustang later on that had a 302 and an FMX automatic.

My first owned car was a 1983 Mustang GLX V6 T-Top, bought it used in 1984, otherwise the Army assigned me a M151A and a M35 as a daily drivers :)

1972 Ford Pinto, w/a manual, in a dark brown exterior w/a tan interior. I learned how to fix cars w/that one, all self-taught (pre-internet days of the mid 70's) and not very well, I might add. Car looked like this but mine was modded- jacked up rear end, Cragar mag wheels, headers, side pipes, Holley carb, gold shag carpeting- yeah, Daddio, I was cool. She was the bomb, literally and figuratively. Got 122k out of her between 2 engines, drove her to college for 4 years, then down to my first real job in FL, before she finally kicked the bucket in '83.

My first car was a '62 Ford Fairlane 500. It had a 260 V8 with a Fordomatic 2 speed. I put a lot of miles and time in that car and had a lot of fun.

1971 Chevy Biscayne in medium olive, bought it from the guy down the street for $300, finish was a little rough but ran pretty good.

Being the know it all teenage at the time I then put a $200 stereo system into my brand new $300 car, lol.

Then about a year little was at the 7-11 trying to park the big boat of a car and ran into the car in the next spot over.

Didn't even think to much about it all at the time, if I would have done that nowdays with my Stang I would have been horrified, lol.

1989 Toyota standard cab 4x4 pickup purchased right off the dealer lot. Was 16 years old and my parents bought it with the understanding I had to pay the insurance and half the payment every month, which back then was only $250 a month total. Truck was striped down with no options, didn't even have air conditioning! I used to off-road the thing on a weekly basis when I moved to Las Vegas to go to college in the early/mid 90's. I owned it for 14 years and 135,000 miles, was a great truck.

Doug

Edit: found picture of it. This is when I was trying to sell it.

I've had a few interesting cars, but since this is about the first... it was an ancient 1955 Dodge Royal Lancer Convertible. Baby Hemi -Super Red Ram in tri-tone Regal Burgundy, Black, and Sapphire White. None of these are my photos. Mine was a tri-tone convertible like the one photo, and the exact tri-color combo shown on the 2-door hardtop.

The first car I paid for was in 1970. I bought it off my roommate when I was in the Navy. His mom gave him a 1965 gran sport convertible for nothing and he sold me his 65 mustang convertible for 350.00 I asked if he would like more money for it but he said no. I had that car for about 5 years I passed it over to my dad who really had a thing for convertibles. It had a 289 2 barrel single exhaust and it was really slow but it looked cool and it was a convertible. The 1st car I had was a brand new 67 GTO and I was king of the world but that only lasted 2 years.
