That is my question too. With the auto's steep 1st gear, is there really a need for 3.55s?
In my opinion no. I had 3.15's on my 2011 auto and ran an 11.2 N/A. I have those same gears in my 2015 and they work for me just fine. These autos do feel a little soft out of the hole but that's due to two things. The stock tune and stock converter. Not the gears.

When you do the math of rear ratio x 1st ratio, the auto 3.15 combo is still a little steeper than the manual 3.55 combo, so I'm not surprised. I'm sure it's fine for the street and hiway.
Thanks.

Works for me. 1st is pretty darn steep even with the 3.15s in an AT. I have never wished for 3.55s. Fuel economy (28-29 on the road) is a fringe benefit.

A 3.15 will also yield a higher top speed, theoretically.

Assuming equal trans gearing and limiter removed. However, unless you're FI or seriously modded, you don't have the HP to use that advantage.

Do you actually enjoy the NAV? I've only had my car about 2 weeks now and I find that it's not working as well as I'd like it to.
Yes, it is better than either of my two standalone units or a cell phone by sheer fact of the 8" screen.

If you want gears in the future, you can count on spending at least $1000 if you pay someone to do it versus paying $395 as an option.
If you are paying $1000 to swap gears you are being ripped off. The Ford 8.8 rear is one of the most common rear ends in use and gears cost less than $200. A competent shop should easily be able swap gears in less than 4 hours.
my cellphone is my NAV XD ...much better than anything the car will come with.
I would disagree with that. By sheer fact that the integrated nav uses the 8" screen and doesn't consume your data plan makes it superior to a cell phone.

Are there any options that are a must have? I'm coming from a Camaro and know very little about the new mustang. I'm looking to order a GT premium with just premier trim as an option because I want a redline interior and an auto.
Really only you can answer this. I bought a base GT and manual transmission. Way cheaper than getting a premium with an automatic.

But you have to please yourself, not me.

I got the p.p. and it's just as good if not better then my '13 with > 10k in suspension parts. Driving in track mode with the shift paddles and Rev matching on the twisties is ear to ear grin.
