I just got back from a track day and have some concerns about my tires. The back story is I don't know how many miles are on them. So let's assume they have 10k. That's how many miles are on the car. I bought the car with 6200miles. So maybe there is 4k miles. I don't know..

Anyway I did one track day with 2 more coming up. Another one at Blackhawk. Going to be pushing a lot harder this time around. And then a road america track day. Speeds pushing 160 there.

Based off your experience. How do these look. If I need to buy some new ones I don't care. But like everyone else I am not made of money however car is worth WAY more than $1500. 00

Pictures are new... Front right. Front left then rear.

I had similar concerns with mine. 4000 street miles and 5 track days. Although mine have more tread than yours. Regardless, I bought a second set of wheels and SC2s for track duty.

based on the pictures, they have a lot of life left, BUT may not be that sticky at their age (assuming they are the orig tires, but you can look at the date code on them too) and mileage... my car was like a drift car once they lost their grip and was not fun to drive anymore. welllll fun, but not fast!

also, you need to examine the inside edges of the fronts , they may be significantly more worn than the rest if most of the miles are street...

it's the insides that concern me, but those are built in 2015 so i'd just get new tires personally. extra wheels and tires let you burn them to the cords and not have to end a track day early too though....

Your tires were manufactured the 34th week in 2015. Tires are expensive on our cars, theres no way around it. It's one of the costs to owning the car.

I got a right tire sliced on the highway at 23.5 k miles, and elected to get all four new ones, as I was close to the wear bars. Had the fronts put on and the rears are out of stock till next month. All street and highway miles.

How can you tell that?

2017 GT350 now gone to a great home.
All tires are date coded and your pics show the code(3415). I would also worry that these have lost the majority of their grip and just get new tires. I see maybe 140-5 at the end of the front straight. If you see 160 anywhere at RA, you are going balls out.

3415 is the 34th week of 2015. That was the week of August 24 to 28, 2015, almost exactly five years ago.

If you are thinking about another set of tires, my car mechanic brother wants me to go with "R" sized tires as they are fine on regular GT350 rims and get slightly more tire and a slightly lower car set-up. I'm probably going to do that for a set of track day only tires.

That being said, those are five year old tires and they probably have a track day or maybe the weekend left in them. But they are old, heat cycled and probably will be losing their grip soon. I'd run them at least once more or maybe even another day and then get rid of them.

Much like you, many guys here are not "made of money", but you have to accept the cost of entry to play the game. Getting a spare set of tires and wheels is a safe way to get home on Sunday. Unless you are trailering your car, you could end up with a tire problem and no spare on Sunday to get you home. Having a spare set of tires and wheels is a good idea.

Well said thank for the input. I will look into a set of race tires next year. I will need to buy tires regardless I guess.

Think I can run these to one more trip to blackhawk. Its about an hour away. That place is tough on tires and brakes.
