If you read some of the replies after the initial post, it's determined that long highway pulls is very hard on the components and is the main cause of damage. Sounds like you did just that and found out the hard way the weakpoint of the engine.
Would a WOT pull from like 40 mph 2nd gear to the end of 3rd gear (didn't glance at my mph but I was almost at redline) be considered too long

That would completely depend on gearing. Top of my 3rd gear is 130mph. If I started in 2nd at 30, and pulled to 130, to me that’s a long full load pull. Both of my OEM short blocks popped a ring land doing just that on gasoline with over 700-760whp.

What gear are you? I have 3.55's which are "longer" I think right, meaning I get to a higher top speed but slower. Next time I'll see what mph I am at the end of 3rd gear, I don't have the balls to try it in 4th lol (also I'm stock)

3.55 would be a “shorter” ratio than 3.15. Or numerically higher.

Yep shorter than 3.15, but I was comparing to like 3.73. Wish I had 3.73's, seems more fun on the street in a manual lol
