I was thinking of doing some minor mods to try and improve shifter feel. I know most people would recommend going with MGW/Barton, but it's more than I'm looking to spend (shifter cost + shop install, as I don't have a space I could use to do it myself). I'm between two setups:

Steeda Bushing Insert (555-4037) and Steeda Shifter Bushing (555-7092) vs. Full Title Boogie Shifter Bracket

Anyone have any thoughts between the two setups? I'd prefer not to add too much NVH. A friend gifted me the Steeda billet reverse lockout, so I'll be installing that too.

Thanks!

The steeda shifter bushing helps firm up the shift a little but it's not a huge difference. I didn't notice any nvh increase from it.

The trans bushing insert is hit or miss. It works for some with no increased noise and for some it rattles the car like hell. It does firm up the shifts very well but for me the nvh was unbearable so I removed it. Some drill a hole in the center to decrease the noise but it doesn't always work. I personally haven't tried that yet.

Gotcha. I'm just trying to firm things up a bit, it can be a little sloppy at times. I was definitely going to drill the hole in the center for the bushing insert. Worst case it doesn't work for me and I remove it, but I'm wondering if I should bother with this combo and just go for the bracket.

I'm not familiar with that shifter bracket but hopefully someone who is can chime in to help you. Nice thing about the tranny insert is its cheap and easy to install so if it doesnt work your your not out much money or time.

Check out Boomba Racing, https://www.boombaracing.com/. I have their transmission mount and shifter bracket on my car. Those 2 pieces along with the BG Synchro II fluid change made significant improvement for me and won't break the bank.

I did the blowfish shifter bracket as well as the white line insert. I completely removed the flat part of the insert, which really made a difference in nvh reduction, and my shifts feel much better now.

I've heard lots of good things about the FTBR bracket. It essentially does the same thing as the struts on the MGW shifter that mount to the side of the transmission. The only negative thing I have read about it is it can sometimes make the reverse lockout collar rattle due to the shifter being hard mounted, but you can install a cheap o-ring into the collar that helps keep it quiet.

I have a billet reverse lockout. I can't remember if it's Steeda or Barton TBH, but it has an o-ring on the interior bore. I am using the Blowfish bracket (2nd gen) so it has rubber bushings to help with vibration too. Bottom line, I still get some noise in the shifter. The car shifts great but that little noise does annoy me sometimes. I have a 500g shift knob too, which I thought would act better as a damper. The noise is so subtle that I can silence it by grabbing the lockout with my fingers. I suppose it's the price I pay for better shifting. It didn't do that when the adapter was new. I think the o-ring has just enough clearance now (wear) that it allows slight movement. It is more noisy in cold weather. I am sure that if there was a better bushing or isolator I could put on the adapter it would go away completely.

Blowfish is no longer around, but I suspect that one of the aftermarket shifter solutions that have arms attaching directly to the trans would have a similar result. I'm curious if that is the case.

When you say you removed the flat part of the insert, I'm not sure what you mean. Is that like drilling the hole in the Steeda bushing insert?

Interesting. Seems like similar parts to the Steeda stuff I have. Glad to hear it worked for you!

I've read some good things about the FTBR bracket too. I had already grabbed the Steeda stuff with a gift card someone gave me, so I'm trying to decide whether it's worth swapping. I am a bit worried about the rattle, but I do have the billet reverse lockout that's supposed to help some.

I wish Blowfish was still around - I read great things about their parts. I think the FTBR bracket is similar-ish, which Is why I'm considering it. I'm just not sure which combo will provide an overall improvement with minimal nvh/noise.

I tried drilling a hole in the transmission bushing insert, but the nvh was too much for me to handle for a daily driver, so I took the insert back out and completely removed the flat section at the bottom. The nvh was significantly better and I could still feel the positive results of stiffening up the trans bushing.

Gotcha, I'll have to pull the bushing out and see what you're referring to. I can't picture it.

Factory squishy, much to soft.

Side by side factory & Energy Suspension's replacement part: Hyperflex Polyurethane

Did it help yes, along with BG gear oil.

Just an over all FYI

I cut this part off completely.

OP replacing this bushing, mark the trans to cross member position. With a sharpy, go around bolt position & how it sits on the cross member,

It is important that it be installed exactly as the was from the factory. The maintenance CD makes a point & stresses the importance of it.

Appreciate the advice guys!

@CanadaCalvin88, appreciate the visual as well. Didn't even occur to me that that could be cut off.

I think I'm going to try the BG oil as well. I know people said it's mostly for 2015-17 cars, but I figure it can't hurt on a '20.
