Hey all, I’m trying to find out the max cylinder head temperature for both the GT and EB. I have both and have installed front end covers. The manufacture of the cover says there may be a slight rise in CHT, if I’m pushing the GT I’ve seen a 15deg increase to 230 and the EB 10deg increase to 210deg.
The gauge is not marked and the manual doesn’t have anything, anyone know the max ? Thanks

My Mach 1 was reaching close to 260 at the track last weekend. But like the other poster said, the computer will prevent you from reving to redline if it starts getting too hot.

.....I.... have installed front end covers....
Consider clear bra instead. Why mess with something as important as engine temps?

The highest I’ve seen on my EB is 218°. Turn on the A/C, which runs the fans, and it immediately drops 20° or more.

50/50 antifreeze @ 16 psi boils at 267.

Once it boils it loses a large part of its cooling properties. So I am going with 267 for both. It’s a quick trip to warped parts after that.

That's more talk about fluid dynamics and properties of the coolant itself, not of the metallurgy in the engine.

266* could very well be fine for the coolant since it hasn't boiled yet and still maintains cooling properties, but that doesn't mean the heads and other critical parts of the engine are.

Completely true. I have always just been under the impression a warped head comes from the rapid loss in cooling ability. The climb from 267 to 300 could happen in seconds once most cooling is lost.

I have heard around 300 from head maker but that information is about 20 years old.

Where you driving spiritedly when you hit 230? This is most definitely on the hot side of things. I stayed around a constant 225 CHT but I was on a track racing. The EB will be fine at 210.

ecoboost, 180F when driving normal - Sometimes on full throttle it drops below 180F and I lose the LC icon. when in Idle it does go up to around 205F then settles around that temp. This is on a 80 ish-95F ambient temperature outside. If I don't move at all or do city stop and go driving, I usually get to 215F.

On track, I never got higher than 212F but my intercooler usually gets soaked though.

I noticed the type of Oil you use can dramatically make a different in how quickly things get warmed up or cool off. On Royal purple, I was easily hitting 230F, never going back to that. Been using Castrol edge extended performance and it's been good so far. Not sure if this has anything to do with the Cylinder head temp and the coolant behaviour

edit: 2018 performance package ecoboost w/ Bullitt/GT350 CAI and borla atak with Ford performance tune

I was not liking the temps I was seeing so removed the covers to today.
OMG what a change, up to 30f less on CHT.
I put the covers on a month ago when the temps in central Texas were lows around 70 and highs in the 80’ (Ive lived my life in Central Texas)
But someone left the oven door open last week and it has
been hot !
And that is when the CHT along with oil and water temps started to rise.
I don’t want to mention the company but if you are wondering send me a PM, thanks for y’all’s input.

Holy shit, don't let it get that high ever again, lol. Just asking for engine damage. By 240 you should be chilling out with the loud pedal.
