How about true retro, black out the hood and use the 1969 Mach 1 side graphics

The coolest thing on this 428 “R” code is the Shaker
Used to own a pristine one. Acapulco blue on black interior
Also had the rim-blow and tilt-away steering wheel. Pretty neat options on a 69/70

Lol, my son just turned 25 a few months ago
He loved the car and I can remember him laughing like crazy when the secondaries opened up
You are so right on how fast they grow...and how fast we get older... 😂

I was caught in one of our infamous TX hail storms the other night. The paint is cracked in many places. As such, it means a total paint job, along with reapplication of the striping and fender badges. The question in my mind is do I have the body shop leave the striping and fender badges off the car after all the hail damage is repaired ? Opinions ?
Man I'm really sorry this happened to you, I saw how bad it was out there on the news. I think it depends if you want to keep it stock for sale later on or make it yours. I've always de-badged most of all my vehicles, I prefer the clean look too.

part of me wonders, can the body shop make the vinyl perfect on the car, in exact positioning, perfectly straight, with no bubbles, or anything, vs what came from factory? I assume its damn near perfect from factory, those guys do it all day long
Look at your door, trunk and bumper gaps for the answer to that question.

Just spoke to the shop. They will not apply the stinger or the Mach 1 emblems to the fenders ! :handsinair:  They will remove the lower side striping too. I will take them the Ford Performance black deck panel for the trunk today. This is really going to work out in my favor.

The Mach 1 letters have two sided tape btw. There are no holes in the fenders or the trunk panel !

double and triple check the result from all angles and in different lighting.
Also rent/borrow/purchase a tool to get the paint thickness if need for sanding down and respray so it is not a half ass job

If I had a GT I'd rather swap out for the Ecoboost look too, much cleaner. I also preferred the LX look to the GT on the Fox as well so I guess that says something. I don't care for the goofy grill and I'd rather not have any fender badges just to keep them guessing.

I tried to do the same. Couldn't get any takers. Who could blame them. Even if they wanted something on their fenders they didn't need holes to add them. If I ever need new fenders or the fenders repainted, you can bet they will be bare.

I also tried to do the same with my hood for a cleaner look PLUS I considered the turn indicators an engineering embarrassment since only one was visible due to the contour of the hood. But before I could find an acceptable hood to trade, I realized my dashcam was high enough to see both indicators and thus eliminate any "he didn't signal" excuses.
