Yeah, I've grown to hate trucks. Here in New England, a lot of people in trucks will drive like they own the road instead of defensively driving, like they SHOULD be doing in such a massive vehicle.

NH and Maine drivers will talk shit about Massachusetts drivers all day long (admittedly, some of that is well-deserved) but they don't know what a yield sign is and are aggressive as hell.

And that's not even getting into the number of times one has parked next to me on the far corner of a lot and left paint scrape marks or taken a chunk out of the driver-side door on my car because they're careless and don't respect other people's property.

.... FJG is entirely different case. Also the same can be said about the "Mach 1" letters in the stripe, FJG has them in same paint with shimmering metallic particles, my stripe has them in same non-shimmering rough matte paint, as a result, PPF hides that logo, makes it barely visible with just the outlines, which is unfortunate...

....Matte stripes can be ppf'ed, just not the non-FJG one, sadly, it has completely different surface than anything else the detailer ever seen, like 3D texture, not really like stripe but paint on the stripe.
Now that's exactly the first-hand experience I was looking for. I was just thinking about PPF wrapping the whole car. The FJG has the side stripes gloss. Are the ones on the non-FJG matte as well?
I saw the cutting model of the Mach1 for the wrap and actually it had 2 sets of cutting models - 1 with stripes and 1 without stripes for the sides and the hood, and I really got confused as to why there are 2 different sets for the Mach 1 models. As far as I know all Mach 1's have the stripes and these are not an option - you either get Black with white or Black with red line, where the FJG has it black with orange.

Obviously the stripes have different adhesive properties, which explains the different cutting models.

Does clear PPF work on the MACH 1 logo on the hood? Do you have any experience? I have a FJG and I was wondering whether that thing will disappear...

All versions have gloss stripes on sides.

It must be for people who put PPF over stripes or remove stripes. Some cut around, some wrap it too.

It works fine on FJG. It makes the matte part bit glossy ofc. Or you can put matte PPF on the matte part only. FJG's smooth stripe works with PPF fine.

Thank you @Charlemagne! I'll go with all-over wrapping. I don't trust insurance and painters here will do good with the stripes. BTW, I think I can insure the wrap as well.

This is why I preferred shipping mine to TX. I have full PPF and a matte piece covering the decal. Not worried about it but I did have concerns about it getting torn like that before the PPF install.
PPF can have holes too.

Yeah, if it does, it usually doesn't damage the paint, though. Would have to be quite big rock from what I was told. I was told even after small bumper accident with road sign there was no paint damage just PPF scratched etc. PPF is covered by insurance here and replacing PPF from insurance is easier and better than repainting parts in my book.

After 5000 km I don't have any chips, pretty sure I would have some already if I didn't have PPF.

That is great it is covered by insurance. Here it is not, at least I do not think it is. I will be calling to find out. I had PPF put on 3 years ago. I have one spot that is broken through, about 2 MM round spot, rest is pristine. I really cannot justify the money to replace it because of one spot. 41k miles.

Yep, just called the insurers. No issues here as well - it is going to be added to the insurance, and I know the insurers are much happier to cover the PPF rather repainting. It is not only chips that the foil protects better. Stopping the car under a tree in the spring / early summer when the trees are blossoming, this is where you get a problem with your paint covered by wood resin (tar). It is even worse than bird sh*t. It won't wash away under pressure, you can't wash it away with sponge, as it just spreads more like butter, dust gets stuck on it and it becomes black and ugly, and eventually burns out together with the paint...
If you have the PPF installed - they just peel it of, then apply the new one, off you go within couple of hours. You take the car for repainting the roof - good luck having it back in 2 weeks...
