I hit my rev limiter on my manual Mach 1 today getting on 95. Forget how fast this thing revs out.

Was in third when I hit, it laid down a bit and bounced 2-3 times really fast before I was able to shift. Sure it’s fine but caught me off guard.

It's fine. They build it knowing that will happen and even have a soft limiter before the actual redline just to account for this. Best not to make a habit out of it but every so often won't hurt anything. Making a 4-1 shift is another story.

Everything I’ve read says this motor is bulletproof. Just caught me off guard. Freaked me out a bit as I was more focused on the road than tach trying to merge in with these idiots down here. I barely drive the car, just hit 1,900 miles.

Reliable, yes. Bulletproof.. Nope….

I did it as well the other day ....it's amazing how hard these motors pull and how fast they wind. As soon as I got home I reset the shift indicator warning and chime to 7000 rpms. I still had it @ 5000 for break-in miles! I'm just over 5000....LET ER EAT!!!!!

I can’t hear the chime ever.

I overrevved mine and it did not bounce on the limiter. It just cut power (same way it cuts power during the no lift shift). But yeah I love how fast this engine revs, specially when you give it a throttle blip - love the quick rev and exhaust tone.

Maybe that’s what mine was doing, it seemed like it was bleeping power or shutting down like reaching max speed. Was in 3rd. I just assumed it was the rev limiter.

Now is about when it starts feeling really smooth.

the car definitely feels likes it’s meshing and operating much more fluid than when it was new. That rev limiter thing just caught me off guard yesterday but honestly I would assume it’s far more difficult to damage this car than that, even bouncing off it daily. Ford advertises this car as a track oriented car, it’s expected that people are going to run it very very hard and honestly if I actually did any damage taking it to redline and maxing it’s allowable rpm out then I’d say it’s fragile and I don’t want the car anymore.

You should’ve seen them red lighting the dash on every run at the demo during Barrett Jackson. All day long car after car with a continuous line of people ready to ride longer than Dunkin Doughnuts on a Friday morning.

Unlike every single journalist who reviews a Lexus F-Spec V8...................

The rev-limiter bapbapbap sounds cool, but way abusive for a car you like.

I use the shift point indicator feature to help avoid the redline. I set it at 6800 and by the time the hard blinking gauge cluster registers in my mind and I initiate a shift I’m right at 7200 with extra 300 for margin of error.
