Hi,

Has anyone de-badged the Mach 1 decklid panel either for aesthetics or to add PPF etc ?

If so, is the badge pinned or is it just stuck on with 3M style tape ?

I am asking as I believe the fender badges are just taped i.e. no location holes and if they have done the same on the decklid panel, it would give us GT guys a chance of getting an OE quality completely smooth badge free panel (exactly like the 'old' ford performance offering) :sunglasses:

Cheers,

I think I remember reading somewhere on here that the rear emblem is plastic welded on the deck lid.

If you remove any of the 2015-current S550 rear panel badges the panel will be left with holes that mar the surface of the panel.

You have to break off the emblems. I changed out the one on my 17 GT to a grabber blue one. They are melted/glued in the decklid through the holes.

Just bumping this to see if anyone had any updates ?

I’m not convinced Ford but multiple holes in the panel for the individual letters and I am hoping they are just 3M’d on … :like:

I had the local Ford parts counter look it up and when trying to purchase a replacement rear Mach 1 emblem, the part number comes up as the rear deck lid panel. I don’t think it’s possible to remove it without damaging the finish on the panel itself

When @MikeyTX debadged his FJG car, he said there wasn't any holes on the fenders or rear decklid, but maybe the body shop broke the letters off and cleaned up the panel.

There are no holes in the decklid but the emblem is plastic welded on. Good luck getting it off. If you go back and look at his pictures he used a Ford racing deck lid (at least I think that’s what it was) that has no emblem but does have the two horizontal lines across the middle of it. Pretty sure that part is no longer available

Has anybody removed the deck lid emblem and put on a custom replacement? I’m making this up but say “Cobra Jet” to cover the holes that were left by the GT or Mach 1.

I just needed to pull some decals off it first :

While you're there, add some PPF or High Gloss Black Vinyl to keep it scratch free. The Black vinyl for that little bit is really cheap on Ebay or amazon.
