What was the issue with the bullitt ratios?
It had the same transmission as all 2018 and up mustangs with the Manual transmission. Very long gearing period fourth was one to one with two overdrives. Totally ridiculous and Ford didn't escape the gas guzzler attacks on them in 2020, so changing the ratios, making the car have longer gearing with less off the line power was for nothing except irritating people like me who sold my Bullitt.

Yeah, the Bullitt gearing is awful. Just the ratio changes from the MT82 to the 3160 nets about an extra 20hp at every shift point. The manual Mach will probably be a good bit faster than the Bullitt

Already spoke to my dealer. They will gladly take back the GT350 in trade on a Mach 1. Treading water till Ford releases the $$ for the handling pack.

It's not the fact that the D4 has two overdrives that's the problem. Not directly, anyway. It's the fact that the first 4 gears are more widely spaced in the D4 than they were in the original MT82.

The original MT82 gave you a huge jump from 5th to 6th that's not particularly pleasant if your shifting is based more on keeping where good throttle response lives than on whether or not you're using overdrive gearing.

Agreed, but I’m gonna guess that it won’t be updated until 2020 production ends (December)

but 6th is not used except mindlessly droning on interstate where throttle response is irrelevant. Does anyone use more than 1:1 at Sears Point, big Willow or COTA? If not then more than 1 overdrive is pointless. The ratio for 6th on the MT82 was far too tall IMO, should have been what 5th is in the -D4. I routinely drive 70mph on the Interstate in 5th (1st OD) and doesn't occur to me to look for 6th.

Being in Texas, I like where the 6th OD is. Our speed limits are 75 on most highways AND backroads, which means us Texans are usually cruising at 90-100mph. Being able to do that while sitting under 3000RPM is a blessing

I definitely HATE the rest of the D4’s gearing though. It’s the main reason I sold mine to get the Mach 1. It was always so frustrating that the most satisfying gear spread in that car was 4th to 5th... them being so close just about made 5th completely useless with 4th being a 1:1, because you could usually just cruise in 4th and skip shift to 6th if you needed to drop RPMs. The only thing that made 5th useful was if you installed 4.11 rear gears

Well, calculating out the difference between the MT-82s gearing on the 2017 vs the 2018 in 1st, the 2018 would need a 4.21 axle to have the same mechanical advantage as the 2017 with the 373.
So, the 460 vs the 435 HP is completely lost and I would hazard a guess that the 2017 would be quicker with a stick. I know my Bullitt had a very hard time out of the hole from a stop especially with the lower torque down low in the rpms. Bad combination.

But, even with the Mach 1s Tremec, we don't know the gearing. The 3160 can be geared any way Ford wants to. I sure hope they fix the errors of the past, that's for sure.

The chances of Ford completely regearing the Tremec just for the low production 2 year run Mach 1 is VERY slim, and I don’t even see a reason that they would want to. They clearly swapped the Tremec in for a reason

I know man, I’m also waiting on handling package pricing before I even commit to buying the car. If the price ends up topping $60k, I’ll probably go a different route... either E92 M3 or Ferrari 360 (completely different ends of the spectrum, but both high revving V8s like the Mustang)

I may simply buy a frame off restored Yugo
I don't think Yugos had a frame. They used old tin cans from the cold war.

I might even go truly to the dark side! Considering a Model 3 Performance :D to replace my G20 330e and keep my MX-5 as track toy
