Handling package cars have more limited production than standard Mach 1s... similar to GT350 vs GT350R
I don't think it's quite as limited as you may think.

It'll be a longer production timeline, but it you wanted to place an order for a Mach 1 today with a handling package, you would have no problem getting it scheduled.

Zach, can you straighten out the gas guzzler tax?
I see so many window stickers now with mixed results.
Isn’t this a national tax?

And I HATE this mentality. Those are the cars that are more limited, and they’re being eaten up just so that some guys with fragile egos can have bragging rights
I must disagree ......... I ordered mine with the handling pkg for a number of reasons. One of them being the wheels. I will never be able to track the car as I once could because of my stroke. Yet, I will allow my tuner to do so. He races professionally.

You have hard copy to back this up ? I'll wager Ford will build as many as are ordered.

Those seem like 2 excellent reasons to not get the handling package

1. you’ll be able to get aftermarket wheels that look the same for cheaper
2. You aren’t actually worried about track times, and since the standard has all the cooling necessary for track use, it’ll suffice for what you want to do with it

That is a federal tax. I'm not sure on where the threshold is to qualify or not. I know some card manual VS automatic achieve different mileage so it only applies to one version. I believe the Mach 1 the tax applies to all versions.

In my opinion there would be three reasons to get the HP, in order of importance:

1. Rear seat delete.
2. Swing.
3. Wheels and front fender lips.

The rest would be gravy.

So here is my theory, My guess is it was a bump in the EPA standards from one year to another. Looking up those units that you sent over that were invoiced before 12-31-20, it does not show a gas guzzler tax. The ones that are reflecting a gas guzzler tax were invoiced in January of 21. So my guess is that there is a gradual step up in the standards that bumped up for the 2021 invoicing year and that is what happened there.

I can't see any other rhyme or reason as to why otherwise. The gas guzzler tax is set by the EPA which is a federal organization.

I'm 99% sure you'll have it on there. If you just got notified that it was picked up, my guess is you'll need to pay uncle sam on that one.

It will. It is a 2021 MY by production date. The milage requirements are tighter for the 2021 MY. They will get tighter with the new admin in D C, you can count on it. There is a reason for the move to EV's.
