Installed the Borla SwitchFire. Great sound!!! Got it on black Friday deal for $445. Install was easy about 30 mins start to finish. Also had another set of hands to help, thanks Gio!

Tools:
Sawzall w/ 6” blade
Battery 3/8” impact
6” extension
15mm 13mm deep sockets
Tape measure
Sharpie
masking tape (to make sure I kept the cuts straight)

I did not remove the whole cat back rather made my cuts, removed resonator, loosened exhaust hangers for the mufflers and mated the pipes. With the active exhaust it’s great sounds good in all modes and still able to use stealth mode! No drone at all.

Think the X pipe is cleaner, more efficient.

How much louder than stock would you say? Sounds good, wish I could hear it in person next to a stock Mach 1
It is not over bearing. My wife and I can have a conversation no problem. Maybe a 25% increase in sound level but a huge increase in tone. Much deeper tone.

Is it raspy when you get on it, or does it keep the deep tone?

Above 4500 is where the X sound starts to come out. I have only been to 5k. My car only has 130 miles on it.

I do have a set of Kooks sitting in the garage. No doubt in my mind I will put some sort of resonator back in some where once they go on, but for now she purrrrs!

Now you really have my attention. Did you get catted kooks? Any reason for installing the midpipe when you have headers to put on?

Thanks for the reply, I want to keep the deeper sound, so I will stick with the H-pipe delete when my car arrives.

I did order catted Kooks. I really wanted ARH as that’s what I had on my ‘02. But the Kooks were on the shelf and for a tremendous deal.
@Atlas1 I wanted to be sure that the restriction/turbulent areas in the exhaust happen as far away from the head as possible.

My plan is to modify the SplitFire to a 3” inlet when the headers go on. For technical specs on the SF inlet is single 2” then it splits into 2x2” pipes on straight one crosses. The outlet is 2.5” Into factory.

I really like the Borla design when you look at it from a tuning exhaust stand point and the firing order of the 5.0 the straight plus the cross really work on solid fluid dynamics, Bernoulli’s principle is in full if not an exaggerated effect within the SplitFire pipe in my opinion.

All that said. I wanted to grab the GT500 Borla cat back being it is 3” from front to back. However $2700 for a cat back that possibly may have to be cut and welded to fit didn’t quite seem right. And no one I spoke with could confirm nor deny fitment and I have yet to get under a GT500 to measure.
