Good morning fellow GT350 owners...

I am about to put some P51 wheels on my car, 2017 GT350. My question is, will I need different lug nuts or can I reuse my stock ones. I bought the wheels used and can get lug nuts if needed. If not, I will still get them, just not as soon.

Thanks for your help.

Mike

Yes, you need a narrow/tuner style acorn lug nuts for those. The stock ones won't fit, nor do you really want to use them.

Gorilla makes a nice set.
Thanks for the quick reply. I will get new nuts....LOL

Thanks

Mike, I must say those are some bee-you-ti-full wheels! I probably won't change my stock wheels, but if I do, I'm keeping those in mind as replacements.

By the way, @EFI is right. I changed out my stock lug nuts for a set of black Gorilla brand lugnuts w/ one locking nut per wheel, and am pleased with both their quality and appearance, for what it's worth.

I love the stock wheels, but I like to change it up a little. Want to be different than the couple other GT350's in town.

The guy I bought the wheels is sending me the lug nuts so it is all good.

Should have these ceramic coated and installed by Friday night so I can make C&C on Saturday morning.

Great wheels, very light as well.

too light. Not strong. Research the failures.
For a wheel that light you probably need a fully forged, not a cast face like these.

I wouldn’t be using those wheels the day after ceramic coating, wait a few days. I’m sure your CC guy will fill you in.

I am going to stick to the original ones I have. The thought of getting after-market nuts sounds to painful, and the wife said it may look funny. I have had no real issues with mine in over 50 years so far. I checked, and they were made in America... Detroit actually.

Usually the risk with ceramics is 24 hours minimum before getting wet. Shouldn’t be much of any other reason to wait, especially longer than a solid day.

I personally refuse to use a wheel (especially on this car) that takes those skinny tuner type, non 60° lug nuts. I know peeps do it every day (6G wheels), but that’s just me.

The wheels do use 60 degree nuts. They use a 19mm socket instead of the larger factory nuts. I installed longer studs because I wanted threads completely through the titanium nuts.
I am aware of the reported failures, and knew about them before I purchased them. The failures occurred on track. I will only be using these on the street. I have others for track days.

I heard about the failures as well prior to purchase of the P51 wheels over three years ago. No issues with mine at all since and my car is driven exclusively on the street.
