Yup right after an oil change got the noise

That’s cold start. When it warms up it’s not as loud. But the video I posted is dead cold.

It’s a noisy valve train issue on the gen 3 cars from what I gathered. It’s in the heads if you listen closely. It’s not the bottom end

I hear that. Yours seems to be at a faster pace than the OP’s, but the sound very similar. Have you narrowed it down to one side of the motor?

Take a look at this video. The repairman got lucky and was able to fix it without removing the timing cover.

I had seen this video a while ago, and after watching it, my belief that it might be a problem with the camshaft and lifters increased a little more since the sound is similar.

Hi everyone, I have an update. After trying a thicker oil (5w40), applying two flushes, and using Mollygen with Ceratec, the noise persisted (though a bit quieter).

Since I ran out of options, I decided to take the car to a mechanic recommended by several people who own Mustangs. To make a long story short, the mechanic found three bad lifters, a pulley slider that wasn't turning, and a cracked crankshaft pinion (I was lucky that no teeth broke and that the part held until I got to the mechanic).

Here's how it sounded before when cold versus how it sounded today when starting from cold. I still can't identify the knocking sound, but I don't know if it's the fuel pump, which is quite noisy, the camshaft timing components, or something else.

For now I need to save up since I spent quite a bit on this small repair, even so I will continue investigating the metallic noise that can be heard in the video, I still believe that sound is not normal in an engine.

That was a major repair IMO. Pulling the valve covers, pulleys and dropping the oil pan to remove the timing cover was a lot of work. The remaining noise sounds like it could be injectors to me.

Do you still have the foam pieces over your fuel rails and the foam block that goes in the intake valley? Those are designed to help mask some of the noise.
