Curious, have you gotten an install price yet? My nearest FP dealer wants $475.00 just for install. $594.00 for the kit.
There's no way this should take more than an hour and a half to install. Bill it at 2.5 for markup and at $125/hour for shop rate, you're still under $315.

Well, that blows.

I'd more than likely keep my unleashed tune vs. this ford tune.... unless it is "really" worth the money.

And I want to keep my Airaid CAI. It all comes down to how badly we want to keep up to 3 years of our power-train warranty.

I think im the first guy who's asked them about this, they had to do some head scratching and i expect this rate to drop. However this is San Francisco and the extremely high cost of living so who knows. 300 and i would have ordered it right then. My local dealer wont touch it.

Obvious answer is to buy this now if you live in the northern hemisphere and save your pennies over the winter to get an IC in the spring. Assuming funds are limited, of course.
buying and installing an aftermarket FMIC would jeopardize the warranty repairs and defeat the whole purpose of jumping through hoops to get the Ford tune installed in the first place.

Because no one ever took an aftermarket part off a car before bringing it in for warranty work...

Exactly my point. People do exactly this with custom aftermarket tunes on the factory warranty. seems silly to me to jump through hoops for the completely unproven Ford canned tune to get a warranty that replaces the factory and then continue to mod the car.

I have a grille delete with a levels intercooler hanging out there for all to see and my dealer has never said a word. I fail to see why that would affect a warranty anyway. It only helps if anything. I also have a Boomba catch can and they told me they liked it.

Yeah, that was kind of my point after all. I'm not sure who is going to buy this tune, but for those concerned about warranty and whatnot, buying this tune thinking 'Now I don't have to do anything else to the car, I have my extra power,' is a mistake. Without an intercooler, your car will feel damn close to stock when its sucking 150 degree air through the cold side pipe. Then again, its a canned tune not accounting for an upgraded intercooler or pressure drops of various sizes anyway. Little irresponsible of Ford not to offer one. Its the glaring achilles heel of the car.

If I were those people, I would actually spend the same money on an intercooler INSTEAD, and NOT rewrite the ECU. If you're not willing to go even that far for better power/driveability, then good luck to you.

I don't want to sound like I'm hating on this (even though I got plenty of jabs in over the last two years about this tune.):ford:

I went from a best of 5.7 0-60 to a best of 5.2 with a tune, exhaust and CAI. I have run up to 3 back to back 0-60 runs in 90+ degree weather with no degradation in the performance. Could I tune more aggressively with a better intercooler, no doubt. Do I care, no. My car is a daily driver and spends 90% of its time at less than 10 psi boost, there is no need for an upgraded intercooler for my style of driving.

I am with dgc333. NJ faced one of its hottest summers to date, and daily spirited driving, I did not go past 120 degrees. Only when I was in traffic on the hottest day I was around 150, and in which case, not going anywhere fast anyway. I see this tune as something that fully unlocks the ecoboosts potential, give it a better feel in higher RPMS, and finally hang with if not pull away from the Corvette v6's.

I've got an upgraded FMIC - no tune. Car has consistently felt stronger since the switch.

Plus when you get that stock IC off and feel how flimsy it is you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

I'm not saying you are doing this but general info for people. If you are monitoring IAT (Intake Air Temperature), know that you are actually monitoring the temperature before it ever gets to the turbo so it has nothing to do with the efficiency of the FMIC (Front Mount InterCooler). That includes the reading built into the car.

To monitor the actual charge air temperature, (the air temp that really matters) you'll need a monitoring device. The COBB AP can monitor it or an OBD2 scanner, you need to monitor IAT2. That is the air temp after the intercooler that is being used for combustion and the one people are talking about getting up to 150*.
