Hello! Does anyone else here have the Ford Performance tune installed on their Ecoboost Mustang? I got mine installed 3 days ago (it said install successful), but if anything, the car feels slower right now and I feel like there's even less of a throttle response. Can anyone share their experience? I've only run 91 in the car except twice since purchase and it's been 300km (almost 200 miles) since the install. :/

Any ideas whats going on?

2019 Ecoboost Premium, 6MT, non-PP. Only hardware mod is the K&N which is part of it.

Cheers!

I have had it on my car for 45k miles. First drive after the install there was a very noticeable bump in power especially above 5500 rpm to redline. The power continued to improve over the next couple of hundred miles and it has been very consistent ever since.

I'd recommend going with a Lund Racing or Palm Beach Dyno custom tune. The power differences are night and day! We sell them here at www.lethalperformance.com!

My experience - loaded tune but only drove it a few miles as it is just a toy for me. Girlfriends car had issues so she used my Eco to commute back and forth from her office and put a couple hundred miles on quickly. Weekend comes and I'm like wtf I should feel more of a improvement by now. Drove it for the weekend and put my own (somewhat angry) hundred miles on it and the car woke right up.

My advice is to go 'full send' :D

I am hoping OP you come and post your review after. I enjoy the FP tune, I’ve gone a few extra mods. I’d recommend a street sized intercooler. It really woke tune up, didn’t heat soak after every pull.

I installed an ATM intercooler last December and I had my tune installed back at the end of May. The initial impression I got was pretty disappointing - ran the same times 0-60 as pre-tune. Covid has kept the miles off the car, but wherever I go I go in Track, Drag, or Sport+ mode. A month or two ago, I checked 0-60 again and saw a .3-.4 second improvement. Pretty happy with that.
Checking 0-60 on Monday and I’m now traction limited at launch which wasn’t a problem in the past. Hopefully I can get old girl down to a dyno in the next few weeks to compare actual results. Overall I’m happy with the improvement, knowing that it isn’t a monster by any means.

I definitely think the intercooler's a good next mod but the exhaust is next on my list if anything!

So the car pulls for sure, I gapped a buddy in an auto jaguar F-type on a 40 roll and was almost even on 2 and lost on 2 (one was from a dig). So I guess it worked, there's also the function of me not being a good manual quickshifter (which ive gotten a lot better at since the tune and havent really pushed the car to the limits the same way beffore that. Getting tire spin in second now too so that's also a sign. I think therre's an appreciable power boost but I also feel like the MT-82 will break with all this shifting. Any fixes you can think of? Clutch mods or transmission mods? Was thinking about the Steeda bushing insert as a cheap entry level mod.

You will not break the mt82. Modded gt’s have issues because they push ridiculous power. For ecoboost we don’t have issues really.

but I will tell you. The two things I loved, that made me love! My shifter was

Steeda clutch spring. 15 bucks
Hybrid Barton 3 short shifter. I paid 350 from Barton.

shifting went from notchy, etc to 90%notch free, so much more comfortable, the clutch spring let me feel the clutch engagement.

and well, the next biggest purchase is.....

the damn 5 spur shifter arm rest cover. It’s 100. But I can’t live without it now

oh, this wasn’t needed but I had alignment done and saw the store had bg synchrshift ii.
I asked about it and they said $100 we will swap fluid for you.

fluid itself is like $70 bucks so to me it was worth to let them knock out on the lift. It took a few days, but the10% notch that may of been left whencold,

eliminated 100%. But with Barton, once warmed up, smoothest shifting experience I ever had on stock fluid and maybe 5% better on bg shift ii fluid

Already have the clutch spring and that is the only reason i didnt sell my car lol the stock spring is awful. the 1-2 shift is my biggest issue. Did you have that issue before the Barton short-shifter?

Edit: American Muscle and Barton's website say the shifter is only for the GT. Why's that? Mind linking the one you bought?

Cheers!

Contact Barton directly. I asked for 15% off to and got it

its an eco version,I was one of the first adopters. I also body mounted mine and love it 100%
And the shift 1/2 is gone.
I drove car 1500 miles and hated it

Installed it, loved it ever since. Just make sure youadjust the little shift gate correctly during install, I didn’t, had to take apart the area and slightly move it a littleto where it shifted correctly.

took 2 hours on Jack stands w a friend, oh also. I installed the shift springs in that little area where you adjust. It was stiff as hell going left or rightin gates, some people like it, Barton himself said try it first.

I went around block, felt like I was doing damn workout, came back opened it up,and tossed those springs in trash. It’s butter smooth, precise, no effort. It’s like a little Atari stick

Barton customer service was great too. Tax free too! Gt model if I recall was priced higher than my eco model.

prob same thing in actuality but I recallhim saying it was an eco version.

You also have mgw. But I wanted stock reverse lockout feature tk remain the same.

my Scion tC has the same shift grid pattern and pull up reverse, so I like it. I am not interested in mgw push down.

seems like folks either notice the gains immediately, or after a few days of driving it after it feeling sluggish. On mine, I noticed the gains about a day later. The suggestion to break in the tune is to do a few 50-80mph pulls to speed up the learning process.

If your not happy with the factory shifter feel, take a look at the blowfish racing shifter support bracket. I installed it and changed the fluid in my 15 and it was a night and day improvement for the MT82. Cheaper and easier to install than an aftermarket shifter...
