That's a tuff one. Honestly without a tune I doubt you'll see any difference in performance. The stock air box is pretty good til you get up over 5500 RPMs.

Nothing wrong with K and N, good brand that's been around forever. Second poster was right, probably won't see much for gains. I saw a boost in MPG but that could have just coincided with getting around the 1000 mile mark.
I got an enclosed Livernois CAI with a dry filter that you can just wash out in your sink and don't have to worry about oiling it. I would suggest checking it out. It looks great and is fully enclosed under the hood. And it has the bigger sound tube option or the sound tube delete option for whatever suits your tastes.

I did a K&N Filter and Airaid Tube for under $200 and I could feel a little power in the butt dyno. IMO same results for a lot less $

Possibly a combination of both...I didn't see any real MPG increases until around 5k miles. Even at around 3k I took a trip and got ok gas mileage. Then I took the same trip around 7k and got noticeably improved gas mileage. About 1-2 mpg better on the highway. I have a stock intake btw.

I do agree you probably won't see any power gains without the tune. Maybe a little with the intakes that don't require a tune

That's really smart. Do you mind snapping a picture of it. Where did you buy the airaid and k&n from?

Anyone going to go with this intake from K&N?

What do you guys think. I'm too much of a chicken to use a tuner just yet so I need something that I don't have to tune once I put in.
Nate - K&N's been around longer than I've been alive. They make a fantastic product and there's many customers out there that have been very loyal to them; In typical fashion they've made another great kit but despite this being a Non-Tune needed Cold Air Intake if you're going to do one I would really suggest doing the other. More than 95% of customer that purchase a non-tune needed Cold Air come back within months looking to pick up a Bama X4 Tuner.

Here's what some customer are saying about the Bama X4 Tuner if you're interested!

I did the same thing, and also gutted out all the NOT needed crap from the inside of the upper and lower intake box. I bought the tube and the filter from Amazon.

I know that K&N owns AEM, at least the intake/filtering side. I have not heard about any dealings with Airaid. AFE also makes a great reuseable filter that has the option of dry media.
