Wrapped up the install this evening after running some errands (including getting a rivet gun) and other distractions. Added 4 rivets to hold the factory piece onto the airbox like posted before. The MAF wiring issue was simple enough to fix by cutting open the factory wrap back to the middle of the loom holder (wires are individually wrapped inside). This gives enough slack to connect to the MAF. Otherwise a clean install.

Looks good OH50, glad you were able to complete the install without too much trouble! I like the looks of the blue filter bs traditional red. This will be my choice very soon.
Did you install a tune or running their restricter?

Thanks

Currently running the restrictor with no tune at all. Can't say I picked up huge power gains, but it changed the sound and some of the throttle feel. Definitely pulls strong in the when you hit around 4K rpm.

Goal for me is to drive around like this for a while, probably adding a catback, and then next year go for a tune to really open her up. Just letting any kinks get worked out before I start playing too much.

any word on that CARB approved version like other guy asked....

Highway Patrol and many local city cops are really cracking down on "racer cars" with lots of them doing hardware checks including under hood and under car (exhaust, cat deletes, etc). On other forums (Ford ST'ers) I read constantly about them getting ticketed for non CARB-stickered intakes.

David, what's the status on your CARB-approved version?

Hi I haven't heard any updates on the CARB one, I will ask again for you.

It comes with a restrictor and when it's utilized you won't need a tune to run the intake. If you want to remove the restrictor you would need to load a tune to accommodate the extra air flow. Feel free to pm me with any questions!

Latest update: we just had cognizantphotos 2016 PP GT in the shop for some dyno tuning, he brought his car to us with only long tube headers and exhaust (untuned) and wanted a dyno tune for his headers and yet to be installed restrictorless Steeda CAI.

With long tubes and exhaust, Joe's car put down 405 rwhp and 359 ft./lbs. tq. - again this was with no tune.

We popped in our Steeda CAI without the restrictor and started working on a tune to also accommodate Joe's long tubes. Our tuning mindset strives for great drivability with maximum (safe) power.

We're definitely pleased with the final results: 442 rwhp and 399 ft./lbs. tq.! Testing was done in a controlled environment with IAT 10 degrees above ambient and cylinder head temps right at 200 degrees for all pulls.

I'm including a couple additional dyno sheets to show both low RPM gains and high RPM gains. At 3,000 RPM you can see a 61 ft./lb. tq. increase and right at 6,700 RPM you can see a 47 rwhp and 36 ft./lbs. tq. increase!

These are stout numbers and we're happy with the gains, we know Joe will be as well - especially with how amazing the drivability is.

Videos to come shortly. PS - Kooks long tubes with Borla exhaust sounds amazing, especially at WOT.

Before and After:

Low RPM Gains:

High RPM Gains:
