The only thing I like better on the Audi interior really is the steering wheel. I really like flat bottom steering wheels
I like that too... also considering the wheel is also smaller than the mustangs

The C Class was released months ago in Europe. The reviewers have driven it so there opinions arent based upon pictures. I've not sat in either so my opinion is limited to visual aesthetics. From the pictures the Benz is clearly more aesthetic and if its anything like the reviewers claim its a home run over the fences. I've not seen a single reviewer "gush" over the Mustangs interior. I've seen very positive comments but nothing like I've seen on the Benz....If memory serves me right you work at Benz and I wonder if your opinion is slightly jaded as you have sat in the 250k plus Mercedes and hence the new entry level Mercedes doesnt have the same impact as it would on others that arent so integrated into the product.

I will view both in person and as always experience might change my opinion. I highly doubt my opinion on aesthetics will change but my opinion of quality might, however...We will see.

Again if you think the Mustang has a better interior then thats cool.
You cant account for taste. Modern interior design = ugly as sin to me. Why does that Mercedes have a MASSIVE center console as big as a cow? It makes no sense. Technology is simplifying and converging and these cars are coming out with just masses of garbage in the center blocking off usable space. And whats up with the dorky screen sticking out from the top?

Mustang compared to the 2016 Audi TT... It was a no brainer... I really love the Mustangs more... I meen I do like the TT interior but I think what sold me was that center stack that most are accustomed to... TT has all virtual guages on a LCD screen along with nav, music, radio ..everything
why would you want virtual gauges? i don't get it :/

Just speaking my own personal opinion here, but lcd virtual gauges are much cooler looking for one, and on top of that most of them are configurable, allowing you to select what you want displayed and where, which is really nice. check out the lexus lf-a or IS350F gauges in action.

Yeah, virtuals are cool for about 5 minutes then they just seem a little too video game to me. It's clearly 100% a matter of personal taste, but analogs for me please.

Agreed its a personal taste thing, but I feel as if its something that will inevitably happen when this car in the future, as most manufacturers are making the switch.

Materials in the 2015 C class definitely look overall nicer quality than the Mustang, I don't think that can be debated (nav is a bit of a tragedy though). Google image search it, there are some much nicer angles/versions of the C class interior, than tan is one of the more boring ones. I think the new C class interior looks better than the Mustang but it is certainly a very different type of interior. I don't think it would be appropriate in a Mustang, but that doesn't mean the Mustang couldn't get more luxurious in the future.

The Mustang interior is a bit more unique, especially with engine turned finish dash. The aluminum dash is boring enough that it makes the interior seem much more average. Odd they buried that in the PP. Anyway based on being a bit more unique, I think that is why someone might prefer the Mustang (of course if the seats are more comfy for you, then of course). If you could get Mustang performance out of a C class I'd choose that, but there is no way until you pop all the way up to C63.

Hate admitting it, but I think you're right. Only a matter of time before a few square inches of pixels is cheaper than a bezel with a needle on a post in it.

Yea..The Mustang is never getting close to the new C class. C class starts at 38k and even that model has a ridiculously awesome interior. It is one of the best interiors I've ever seen on any car let alone 40k and less.

Looks they glued a I pad on The dash, looks ok in pictures, but gross in person

Then there is the shifter, or should I say mouse

Yeah, I really dislike the recent trend of the tacked-on iPad for the screen. I like it integrated.

The new Mustang interior is very nice overall, but they also could have done a better job integrating the touchscreen. I don't like how it has an extra window pane of plastic trim around it. The base Mustang interior really highlights this problem, but it is present in the premium interior as well. If they could have just put in a slightly larger screen, that could have filled out the frame better, it would have worked much better IMO. It is still very good overall. And while I do really like many of the details of that C-class interior, the tacked-on display kills the elegance for me.

As far as the instrument panel goes, my ideal is a three pod layout. The center pod has a large analog mechanical tach that covers maybe 260 degrees, with the unused lower area housing the fuel gauge. The tach would have a large center dial with a small fixed LCD that would show the speed in digital format. That covers your three main gauges in one area, with no redundancy (I can't stress enough how annoyed I get when a car wastes an large portion for an analog speedo, and then has a digital one right next to it).

The left and right pods would be configurable circular LCDs, with presets for different situations (sort of like how the C7 info changes depending on drive mode).

Left pod would typically show water temp, oil pressure, oil temp, trans temp, or whatever else you want.

Right pod would typically show the trip computer stuff, fuel economy, radio station, nav directions, etc.

I do like the Mustang's Instrument Panel, but I wish the central display was a bit larger and could display a larger number of virtual gauges (in an analog "bar chart" type of layout, where several could be stacked on the rectangular screen).

Anyhow, I've rambled long enough. Thanks for the pics, and can't wait to sit in one myself.

Fully customizable of what gauges you want to use... there are track apps on there as well and can all be set on the screen.... as to the extent, not sure.... they are using QNX

Totally agree - it cheapens the look. I can think of two reasons they may have done that. The first and most likely one: "future proofing" the centre console. They'll be able to strip out that big bezel and fit in a larger screen in later years without doing a remodel of the rest of the centre console - a nice cost saving. Another less likely possibility is that the bezels are deployed to improve viewability under certain conditions by reducing oblique reflections on the screen.

I also would love to see a 3-gauge cluster with a central tach - at least on the PP versions of the car. Embed a digital speedo at the bottom of it a la Porsche, BRZ and you have the perfect performance car configuration.
