I’ve had my stang brand new since November of 2021 and never once noticed the bbq tick everyone talked about until recently lol. Is this the tick? It’s not constant and I don’t hear it at idle, only when giving it gas (and only notice when I put the exhaust in quiet mode like in this video)

That is exactly it. I've only ever noticed it at a drive through when next to a wall and I raise the RPM up to 2000 and hold it there. At idle can't hear it at all...

I had the same issue in my F150 for years with the Coyote finally found a tech find out it was a flex plate issue. He tightened up all the bolts and they told me I could have it replaced but after tightening it down the noise was gone and I have never heard it since.

I hear mine at idle, especially after an oil change, and when the engine is hot. I also hear the bbq tick on both sides of the car. It's a random tick with no pattern. After I drive 1,000 to 2,000 miles with the new oil, it goes away.

On my 3rd Coyote powered Mustang and all 3 had/have it. All three pulled/pull like a freight train. I just had an oil change and I notice it but it seems to dissipate after a few hundred miles. I would like to know why it mellows out with time if anyone has an opinion...

I read somewhere on here the tick happens at the beginning of an oil change because the oil is thinner and does not have any impurities in it.

Thank you for the reply. Ford put out the TSB stating the tick sound is normal and to date it never impacted the performance of my 3 Mustangs that had/has the tick. But, like many, I'd like to have a definitive answer. Maybe someday I'll run into a friendly Ford master tech at a cars and coffee who will say it is caused by X. I tried getting an answer from a service advisor once and got a blank stare.
