Regarding brake performance, I notice it every time I drive it - and I love the brakes. Feels strange when I drive my wife's car or my Ford Ranger.

There, as always, are pluses and minuses that the individual most weigh for their particular needs.

Do make sure you are honest about the roads you drive on. I love my PP but will be driving on good roads. I went on an old road trip route last week that I hadn't been on for about 5 years. The roads have gotten a little worse and it almost ruined the trip with the stiffer suspension. That wont be the norm so I'm good.

It might pay to find some varying road surfaces on test drives more than someone would guess.

I test drove the PP GT and it was a no go for me. Too stiff. My wife also drives it and I know that she would have complained about the bumpiness of the PP. I love my decision to not go w/ the extra thousands and do the PP. Yea you get a lot of "bang for your buck" but do you want all that stuff?
?

Is it really that stiff? Doesn't feel like it to me. OF COURSE I want all the stuff..........

Yeah I dunno, my wife thinks the PP GT feels like a luxury yacht, but I suppose it's all relative. It's about 1000lbs larger than my last fun car, and the gearing doesn't bother us either as we were also used to buzzing down the highway at over 4000rpms.

As I think I mentioned in my thread about the Ecoboost, I test drove an eco PP and a GT non-PP. I should start off with a disclaimer: some of the differences I observed may be due to the heavier engine in the GT. Some of it could also just be my imagination. Note the GT non-PP was an auto so I can't really comment on gear ratios. All that said, just in case it helps, here are my impressions based on relatively brief test drives on relatively straight and well-maintained roads.

Braking: the PP brakes seemed to bite noticeably harder. I have no doubt that the non-PP brakes will have no trouble bringing the car to a stop or locking the tires on dry pavement, and the practical difference is probably only relevant on a track when brake fade could become an issue. But the difference in feel was noticeable. In some ways this may be like the different throttle mapping of sport mode. It takes less movement of your foot to get the same stopping effect in the PP.

Turning: It feels different. Even in a little swerve in lane or a hurried right turn at an intersection, the PP car felt flatter and more like it was "on rails" to me.

Harshness: It was noticeable but it didn't bother me nor my wife one bit. I should mention that while these roads had some bumps, they weren't even close to the worst that you can find, and didn't have any real potholes, just cracks. I could imagine on worse roads the PP being very uncomfortable/scary.

Wheels: As also mentioned in my Ecoboost thread, the PP might be a little bit less friendly to snow tires, but it seems like not a huge problem. IMO the black wheels look great with Oxford White.

Floatiness: I would never describe the non-PP GT as "floaty." Maybe this is just my lack of experience driving performance cars, but even the non-PP GT felt planted, nimble, and low to me. My driving background includes mostly an Acura TSX and 1990 BMW e30 3-series, both of which felt far more "floaty" than the non-PP GT to me.

Hope this helps.

Can anyone tell me, with the heavier front springs on the pp, does the pp Mustang normally sit lower on the road than the identical non pp version?

Much appreciated

My 14 ram 1500 is stiffer and moves around a lot more then my GT PP, It also can be scary when punching.

I've ordered a PP GT and this talk of stiffness is bothering me. I still have time to change the order. I drove a non-PP GT for hours and it was like a Cadillac compared to my 2010 which has Koni STR.T's and Steeda sport springs. I briefly drove (10 minutes) a PP GT and it felt great to me but I only hit one RR track which would have jarred the Queen Mary.

To me, one of the biggest contributors to an unpleasant ride is NOISE when you hit a bump. The non-PP GT I drove was nearly silent in this regard. How is it with the PP?

I found that the non-PP rolled a bit and was a bit squishy (had the 18's) compared to my modded 2010 but it was planted. Still, I live in an area with some great twisty roads so I lean toward the PP.

Somebody tell me it's not obnoxious, I'm already nervous enough about ordering this car!

The PP EcoBoost and non PP GT brakes are the exact same.
If there was a difference felt it was because the ecoboost was lighter.

The GT PP ride is not obnoxious at all to me. I love it! It's pretty firm but not noisy in the cabin. I test drove both a PP 6M and a non-PP automatic. I thought the non-PP seemed quite soft and a bit floaty - not at all what I was looking for so after the test drive it was clear I wanted the PP setup. I'm glad I got the PP - no regrets at all! Also the Brembo brakes on the PP are terrific - the most responsive brake setup I've ever experienced.

It's not obnoxious. Not to me anyway. Can't imagine the car without it.:cheers:

I don't understand this statement...if you buy a naturally-aspirated car with gears like 3.27 versus a 3.73, more effort is required to get the car moving. If horsepower increases as rpm's increase, up through the point that torque starts dropping off, the engine should be more efficient at overcoming loads with lower gears than with higher gears. Correct?
I agree. I came from an '06 GT with 4.10's and some other goodies installed that thing needed shifting very soon unless you wanted to fly.

I did not notice the increased noise in the PP (Eco). Again, I didn't hit any real potholes, so I'm not sure my comment quite addresses your concern. It stands to reason that the stiffer suspension would produce more noise but I just didn't notice it.

Hmm, thanks for the info. Also perhaps it was just in my head.

Thanks folks! I've read every post in this thread and others I could find and I am not changing my order. (Ruby Red, PP, Ceramic).

The non-PP I drove was nice, I love the manual it's much better than the 5M in my 2010. The power up top is amazing! It had the stock gears (3.15?) so it was a little slow off the line.

I couldn't do anything really fun with the PP car I drove over a month ago (different dealership with salesman that insisted on going along) but I do remember the handling felt amazing. The non-PP was a bit floaty but once it settled in the curve it stuck well considering the rubber.

I'm getting pretty excited about this...guess I've got a long wait but that'll give me time to get over the "buyer's remorse" so I can just enjoy it when it comes in!
