I was shocked by how jerky the shifting was in sport mode. With 10 speeds it was not enjoyable. My 2015 gt is nothing like that. Is that common for the 10 speed?
If you do not know how to drive the 10-speed in sport mode it will be very jerky. Also if the trans is not warmed up it will be jerky. Gas pedal is also very sensitive to your actions as it is trying to figure out what you want to do.
Unfortunately unless you know all its quirks and how to drive this transmission it will not be enjoyable at first.

And if you shift fast with manual, it will not be jerky? It will be just as well. It's Sport mode, you hammer it fast, that's normal. In Drive it's smooth as butter for me.

Why? 10R80 is fantastic :sunglasses: It's a matter of choice, either you want manual or auto, it's as simple as that. At least we got that choice for the first time.
I agree. It's a matter of choice. Being a Formula 1 fan I wanted the A10 just because of the paddle shift. However, after driving the manual on the 2nd day at the Ford Performance School (Charlotte), I quietly wish I purchased the manual. I still love tracking my A10 car and if you use the paddle shift, it seriously adds to the complexity and fun. If you leave it in automatic, it handles superbly on the track shifts. Also to note though, the A10 has a slower top speed than the manual but a faster acceleration speed.

I am not going to sell my Mach1 but possibly agree that it will may have a lower resale value than a manual. I can see myself getting a 2nd one in manual and have fun with both. Will it be an HP? Maybe not. I would daily that one because of the front splitter.

I do not regret getting the HP A10. I made the decision and learn as I go along. Especially with this forum. So the choice is made, whether it was the right one or not. But I will live and relish it. This forum has been a wealth of information. Google and talking to people on the track does help but asking questions to Mustang Mach1 owners with years of experience, has been the best help I could get.
Good for you AZ_Ryan for asking all the questions.

So the mechanicals are supposed to teach the human? No , the mechanicals shouldn't be programmed to be stupid and counter to it's masters wishes. It's just abominable bad programming by Ford. GM knows how to do it right. As does the f150 team.

You're right. In spirit mode the only way it can be driven is with the pedal on the floor. That's not a solution. That's adapting to a defective product.

Now if your standards are that flexible, have at it.

I owned several S550’s, the first being a new 50th anniversary when they first came out. I didn’t love it compared to my last S197 Roush Stage 3. I really felt at first that it was a mistake switching to IRS. The car just handled very differently and I wasn’t in love. I sold it after 6 months. A month or so later I bought two S550’s. One for me and one for the wife. I did all the suspension upgrades available at the time and supercharged it. I still didn’t like it as much as my Roush so I sold it. I also had a Boss and a 13’ Shelby GT500 at the time so it wasn’t a big deal. A couple years later I tried one out again. Did all the suspension and blower, etc. kept that one for about a year. Had maybe 3k miles on it when I sold it. I said at that point I was done with the new Mustangs.
Fast forward a few years and the M1 came out. I started to test drive them in 2021. Test drove a few and went back and forth if I wanted to buy one. I did the same in 22’ and finally decided I wanted one. I ordered a 23’, loaded with everything but the Recaro’s because I love the a/c seats. Anyway, did some suspension work on the M1, Stop the Hop kit from Steeda, the Steeda springs and some other fun stuff. I have now had this car for 9 months yesterday. I absolutely love it! It rides great, handles very well and is plenty fast enough even being n/a.
Personally, I don’t think you can go wrong with the M1.
As far as holding its value, I don’t see anything special there that would make it hold its value over a regular GT, just the difference in price between the two cars. I think MAYBE in the distant future it might be worth a bit more than other Mustangs except the 350 & 500. I don’t think it will ever appreciate in value and I don’t think it will ever hold its value at MSRP.
Resale value is not the reason to buy this car. It’s absolutely worth buying over a GT or IMO over a S650 including the Darkhourse. It’s great looking, handles very well, quick, Tremec is fantastic.
Hope that helps a bit.

Will Mach 1s hold value better than early S550s? Yes absolutely.

Is it worth upgrading and paying more for the car? I don't think anyone besides yourself can answer that. It depends on if you feel it is worth it. Some will say yes while others will say no.

My advice, if you want a Mach 1 either pay the price now or hold out a few years. One should assume that deprecation will eventually hit the Mach 1 to some degree, but as stated before I do think they will hold value much better. In 5 years, if they are only $5-10k cheaper than the current prices, would it have been worth it to wait that long? Nobody knows how the market will be, so only you can justify if it is 1) worth it to upgrade, 2) worth it to buy now, 3) worth it to wait.

Best of luck in your decision. Either way, these cars are spectacular for what they are.

My 2015 is super smooth going through the gears in sport mode when I hammer it. When I drove the Mach 1 my passengers where both asking why the car was jerking so hard. Maybe it was just the computer still learning. But based on the feedback here that sounds normal. I'm not sure how you are supposed to "learn to drive a 10 speed" lol.

Ok here's the updated deal. The dealer with the M1 manual agreed to replace the tires with the correct size for the HP rims if I buy it. Hopefully they don't try to cheap out, but I don't think there are cheap options for that size lol.

All the mods spooked me a little, so I'm taking the car into Ford today to have it inspected separately. I'd rather lose money on an inspection than buy a over modded car with no warranty. If everything checks out I'll close the deal when they complete the tire swap in a couple days.

I appreciate all the feedback here. It's been an education. Will update later.

I honestly don't think it's very jerky in Sport mode either, maybe slightly. I drive in S+ often and don't fint the transmission distracting or taking away from the experience, paddles or no paddles. Either other people are more sensitive to it than me or it differs car to car. It gets zero complaints from me (7500 miles).

The car checked out after inspection. No tune or other mods besides lowering springs and the res delete.

I signed the paperwork and I'm just waiting for the Michelin Pilot sports to be put on before I pick her up. Probably be a couple more days. 👍🏻

I would say only for the manual transmission. I don't know your financial situation, but bas d on that I would do it only for the manual transmission.

Ok so I've been searching the internet and I'm wondering if I'm going to have a tire fitment problem. This is a NON factory Handling pack car, with aftermarket Handling pack wheels added. All the vendors state on their websites that there could be a fitment issue with these wheels on non HP cars....🤔

So do Handling Pack rims fit on a non Handling pack M1 WITH the correct size tires? Will it effect the speedo? I'm starting to worry these are going to rub with the correct size tires, especially with the lowering springs on it. Maybe that's why it has undersized tires on it now...😬
