Is it normal for these engines to be hot as hell?

I popped the hood after I got my car home yesterday, after doing the first 100 miles almost to the dot, with a lot of around town stop and go, in fairly warm LA summer day. I didn't notice anything unusually hot about the engine bay...

Key, like you noted, is the gauges. Oil being hot enough before putting your foot into it is usually more of an issue than it getting too hot. Transmission and diff if you're driving hard or tracking, though with a 2017+ there shouldn't be an issue there either. Won't pick the 2015-2016 scab, doesn't apply in this case anyway.

Also random question, why do people complain about the clutch pedal? It seems fine to me and this is coming from someone who has a Scion tC and never driven a sports car.
Complaints came from MY2015-2018. MY2019+ do not have the spring that the 15-18s had. Different set up & more linear feel.

just setting the record straight, that is not my post, I never had a Scion tC in my life. Probably got the names mixed up while quoting?

also, I didn't know my19+ has a linear spring as standard, that's good news.

The only thing about the clutch pedal on my 18, is that it is incredibly light and takes almost no effort. Coming over from my 13 1LE camaro took some getting used to...comparitively heavy pedal. The heat ....maybe a little less open space and room under the hood so the heat has less areas to escape from. But power equals heat

That’s a dry heat...try it on the east coast with a heat index of 110 with 75 percent humidity.

You got to be kidding me... If you think the Voodoo gets hot, let me show you my twin turbo BMW after a run in the mountains in the summer, when the turbo's glow... you will burn your finger touching anything from the hood to the metal sheet where the hood touches ... Voodoo is cold.

Ya I don’t know how you guys do it. It’s all about getting used to it.
We had a bit of scattered showers yesterday morning but the humidity didn’t get up very high.

We do it by staying inside from 2 to 6 pm. Between 2 and 6, too damm hot and sticky to do anything outside. I was at my house in Mn this winter in January and one day it was -23 degrees air temp....call me nutty, but I like that better than 110 with humidity. I do not have the Shelby up there yet. Had a rental Jeep Cherokee Summit edition. When I picked it up in Duluth it was a balmy 25, it was cold enough in Ely that the tire pressures dropped in my garage overnight, given the ideal gas laws, to light up all the tire pressure warnings. That’s some cold shit!! Took 30 miles of driving to get enough heat in the tires to make them go away.

So a buddy of mine is headed to his home in Lake Havasu this Sunday where the lows will be 93 and the highs 116 for seven straight days. Another friend has family in Bullhead City right now and I looked this up.

That can kiss my ass. It's already 99 outside at 11:30 am. Gonna be up over 106 again today.

So far i'm able to keep my house at 70. Thank god for energy efficiency. A 36 degree drop in temperature from outside is 1st world problems for sure.

I used to live there. I definitely prefer the dry heat out west. With that said, the sun out here don't play. If you have to work outside with no cover, you will still roast. Airflow actually does something though, unlike with high humidity. So that's nice. Every time I visit family in the summer and step off the plane, I can feel that gross water air again and I hate it.

I will never move into humidity. My move from California will be Northern Idaho or Western Montana.
